Dominions 5 is arguably the richest fantasy strategy wargame ever made with 86 factions, 200 gods, 3000+ unit types, 8 magic paths, 500 battle spells, 400 ritual spells, 77 bless effects, 300 unit perks, 400 craftable items, 1000+ magic sites to discover, 3000+ random events, and randomly generated maps.

All beautifully represented with loving detail (e.g. every unit has unique flavor description) and now with full battle logs and stats for every single unit and a history playback of your game. This is a strategy gamer and role-player's dream.

Dominions replayability is practically endless and you'll likely find yourself playing for years. Dominions is one of those games that never leaves your PC.

Having said that, Dominions does have a steep learning curve but there is a complete PDF manual as well as video tutorials to help get you started. If you can get past this initial time investment you will be richly rewarded with some deep, memorable gaming experiences.

Beautiful visuals and music with art-style that totally captures the Jules-Verne "20,000 Leagues Under the Sea" vibe.

I admit, I was frustrated at first with the lack of guidance and the tight squeeze in the first mission area but once I got past the tutorial and out into the more "open" seas the game definiely started to shine.

For those wondering about keyboard and mouse controls, they're just fine once you discover that holding the "W" key allows complete 360 degree free-look mouse control so you can swivel your view in any direction while your sub continues on its straight heading. The one issue I have with K&B is inside structures that are larger than a single screen as you do have to move the mouse to the edge to navigate. Hopefully that gets a fix.

I'm riding the elevator to the surface of Mars with hard metal music in the background. The door suddenly opens and I pump my shotgun to the final beat and step into the swirling sand. My eyes are watery behind my shaded visor. "Welcome home, Doom Marine," I mutter quietly to myself with a predatory grin. "Here I come, ready or not!"

This is a very welcome return of old school, fast-paced, adrenaline pumping, demon-killing goodness on the PC. I had my doubts when I bought the game last night before any reviews but riding the elevator at the conclusion of the intro level literally made me tear up!

Ahh, country life! It's just what the doctor ordered...

In a time when it seems like every new game is dark, gritty, brutal, savage, violent, depressing, and murderous comes along a game about living a simple life in the country, joining the local community, giving gifts of nature, making friends and, potentially, falling in love.

It's such a pleasurable change of pace that I can't recommend it highly enough.

Stardew Valley is a country life simulator and farming RPG. Check out my "test drive" video for gameplay sample:

Simple but engrossing, Kingdom is a throwback to a time when computer games were easy to jump right into and be instantly engaging. A time when wiki's and tutorial videos didn't exist and you just lost hours playing the game and discovering its mysteries and defeating its challenges on your own. A time when each new playthrough offered another opportunity to use your earned experience and get a bit farther along than the last session! Until, one day, you finally WIN!

Check out my Kingdom test drive for gameplay sample!
