First game in a long time I went for 100% of achievements. Great game all around, it relies on synergies of items and traits, which make it fun to experiment with and find combos. The base combat itself is also great, so long you dont have a short ranged weapon like a mace.

I think I've exhausted all content, playing at max difficulty (Cinder 16) after 70 hours, which I think is pretty good for the price of the game. There are many references to other games in items and such, which is always a fun little nudge. I just want there to be more goals to achieve.

Pretty fun combination of autobattler, deck builder, roguelite and arpg(?). Required a bit of strategy, ultimately I just messed up for a while when my necromancer with explode on death just had this insurmountable meat wall. That took me considerably more time to progress past the character (who was a boss at a later stage), but figuring out stronger builds was half the fun. Wish there was more content and more character customization, the gameplay is great. Still solid for this price, finished the game with roughly 15 hours, has replayability, but the novelty(your characters becoming a boss for your next ones to kill) has worn off on a second playthrough.

I originally reviewed this game a year ago warning to NOT read EA reviews. This still holds true. If you want to buy this game and need a second opinion, WAIT FOR FULL RELEASE REVIEWS, the game massively changes and expands on full release.

I have played this game on their own client mostly, hence fewer hours on Steam. It's been a wild ride honestly, I've played on and off since Beta and to be fair, you gotta give HiRez some credit for their constant event flow. This MOBA is different from other MOBAs in so many ways and honestly, I do thoroughly enjoy playing Smite, however over the last couple of months it's been becoming increasingly difficult to find any joy in normal games anymore. I'm personally not a big fan of Ranked, as I would rather play with my friends.

Now here comes the dealbreaker with Smite. Playing with friends is most of the time unbearable, not for the gameplay itself, with friends it's of course nice, being able to communicate and coordinate, but rather for the matchmaking. Smite gives you the worst teammates if your friends have a different casual MMR. With events being commonplace on weekends, not only because of the people who usually only have time to play games on weekends, but also because of the people who only play to get event bonusses, it becomes borderline unplayable. I am not saying every random player is bad, but you will 9 out of 10 times get someone who plays for fun and isn't interested in actually playing to become better, which is in itself not a big problem, but you'll have troll picks, toxic players and you'd think with high ranked MMR you'd get players who actually know what they are doing.

In it's current state it's unfun to play, because the Smite matchmaking will give you unreliable or just plain bad players, regardless of your MMR, making it virtually pointless to even try to play for the win. I really want to enjoy Smite, but it's just not possible. I log on to play with one or two friends at a time and 3 matches later I have already lost all motivation to play, after having consistently horrendous games, due to almost every game being substantially harder, having random players, who aren't remotely as experienced as yourself play on a worse level than your average enemy, resulting in losing lanes. It's not fun having to play ranked for better matchmaking, especially since you won't be having as much fun, since there is a real pressure on you to win, instead of being able to just play in a relaxed environment.

The game isn't fun anymore, most of the time. It does have fun characters and mechanics, but queueing up, knowing you will not enjoy having to play with a team, of which half of the players probably don't know what they are doing, is just plain terrible. I want Smite to be good, but honestly I can not recommend the mess this game gives you everytime you press Play.

It's a bit unpolished. You will need to learn it's weird way of doing things. But if you get into it, you won't regret it. Sometimes it is enraging, sometimes you feel a sense of pride and accomplishment. Though it's in Early Access, it's worth playing. The Updates make a difference in gameplay and the replay value is quite good. The game is basically just fun to play, if you get the hang of it.
