Pretty good all around, the new game engine is a huge upgrade from the old Spintires engine both visually and physics wise; Gameplay is nicely built on top of what the previous titles have done before and multiplayer works very smoothly even at high latencies; Road building is very fun although wonky at times.

Downsides are a 3rd party mod manager being required (although it's not new for them, Snowrunner and Expeditions already used mod.io), and some missing features and options that previous games had, though the devs have shown to be listening to feedback; The boss/guide's voice lines are very inconsistent from one to another, and I wouldn't be surprised if they're AI generated as well as the art for her.

Overall, I feel I've been waiting for this game for a very long time, and now I wish other long-running vehicle sim games would do the same with a major engine rework instead of using the same one for 20 years (looking at you, Truck and Farm sims)

I was already on the fence about coming back to the game the past few weeks because each update somehow makes the game more unstable and perform worse, while at the same time doing some of the most asinine nerfs in a PvE game. Changing the optional PSN account linking into a mandatory one was the final nail in the coffin for me, truly an amazing way to completely ruin an incredibly good, incredibly popular base game. Not to mention their insane crunch of trying to "stay relevant" by forcing their tiny team to release new content every month while at the same time trying to fix the myriad of bugs and issues plaguing the game since release, I feel bad for the poor devs caught in the crossfire of this executive clusterf**k.

Fatshark and terrible priorities when it comes to doing a big release, name a more iconic duo. Sets aside fixing critical bugs that forces you to re-equip things 2 or 3 times until the game registers it, no full fledged crafting systems, but the cash shop? Here on day 1 and flawlessly working!

Avoid buying for now if you can wait for a better, (hopefully) feature complete game by 2023.

Great co-op experience and lore. Developers who can't listen to their own community's simple wishes.

Perfectly captures the gameplay of the original Insurgency, but expands and improves it by a lot. The sound design is absolutely amazing as are the visuals. Performance wise, I haven't had issues on my i5 8400, 1060 6GB with 16GB RAM, except a few FPS drops on a single newly released map. Still needs a lot of optimisation, but NWI will deliver as well as keep working on the game with free updates for years to come.

Played it on late 2012-early 2013, then came back about Q2 2016.
Back then it was so boring and pointless, not to mention the amount of grinding needed was insane. Now, it's so much prettier overall, with actual story quests (although only a handful) and plenty of content, and grinding for the required pieces/resources needed to craft an item isn't too hard.
The combat mechanics are the best part though. It's a huge mix of your regular Third-Person Shooter, RPG games with characters focused on certain skills, a fighting game with plenty of melee weapons which can all do different combos and even some parkour. Getting bored in this game isn't easy, especially when starting off where everything you acquire is new and exciting.

Oh, for the fellers with weaker hardware, you need not worry much, because this game is very optimized, you'll just miss out on some fancy particles and effects.

Good looking, good optimization, good mechanics, huge amount of players...

And then it's all counter-balanced by Russian vehicle bias, apparently a complete lack of matchmaking, incomplete tutorials that are also hard for new players to find, so on the first 3 ranks you'll be fighting with a bunch of beans on your team.
Oh, not the mention the Insane amount of grinding it requires for unlocking just a single vehicle without paying for premium.

Early Access Review
Spend a good while choosing parts for your car, carefully tuning the suspension and engine and then crash the ♥♥♥♥ out of it.

11/10 would simulate again

Ever since the first gameplay video I saw of this game, I completely fell in love with it. Great gun mechanics and teamplay, co-op and PVP both require a tactical approach to things, otherwise you're very dead all the time and the developers are one of the most amazing groups I've seen so far. They host weekly streams, where they show off newly developed stuff, great community mods and hold Q&As about the game.

All in all, would definitely buy it over and over again.
