Early Access Review
I haven't played this game for too long (and it has been a minute since I have played) since I got to a certain point and was just waiting for a bit more content to come out before revisiting. Reading other reviews made me wanna write my opinion of this game.

Save system. Yes I do believe it's punishing and challenging but I do like it. If there was a "save anywhere" type of save system, it wouldn't be as challenging as it is, which adds to the charm for me. Granted, I also played Pyromancer first since I heard that was "ez mode" and I was still learning the game at the time. So I very rarely died.

Combat/death. Honestly, due to the health system (maintaining pain, morale, body types, having bandages/splints, etc), it's not recommended to just charge it. This game makes you think a little bit more on how to fight and approach every mob. As a pyro, I just peppered mobs with my fireball (or any ranged fire attack), ran away until it recharged, and did it again, repeat. Or until they were deemed weak enough for me to run in with my dagger/sword and shield combo. If you're not a mage, cool, be a bit more cautious until you get access to a bow, and do it with a bow. Yes, the RNG is a little ass for accuracy (for magic AND ranged), but it's just a matter of skurting them around until they are weak enough. YOU'RE NOT SUPPOSED TO JUST CHARGE IN. Especially against multiple mobs. It's just a matter of "stealth" and being smart.

Travelling. The game COULD get a fast travel system, which would be ideal, especially if they plan to expand the map by a large margin. But for now, in my opinion, the travel is fine. Hopping from town to dungeon, to tile, to town. Yes, the danger is at an alright level. But once you're geared enough (I say this as you're confident enough to be able to fight one or two things without worry), it's fine. Wolves? Multiple? They (most wildlife) just get alerted, you get a warning, and you're usually free to back the heck up and just dip. Or you could find herbs, mushrooms, food, free animal kills, etc. Bandits are usually weak. My only advice is, if you see a bear, just leave. That crap is OP AF. I've once started a game and walked out of town just to get face to face with (I ♥♥♥♥ you not) 3 bandits, like 2 wolves, and a bear. RIGHT THERE. At least 20 tiles away. Luckily they were fighting each other and I was like, hm, let me see how this plays out. Wolves attacked bear and bandits. Bandits attacked bear. Wolves died to bear and bandits. Bandits died to bear. Bear took a GOOD bit of damage to both so I attempted to hit it a little with my fireballs. Got a little cocky, thought it was about to die, walked up, hit it 2 times with my daggers, got killed almost instantly. That bear was definitely laughing at me.

Dungeons. Once you do (and survive) the first dungeon, you pretty much have learned how to handle it. Big tip that worked for me, not sure if it's been fixed though. Clear out the top of the dungeon aka the campsite with the guards. Have two piles of loot: Not worth selling, and the ones worth bringing back to sell. Just toss it on the floor. Make sure you're good on health. Go in, be cautious, kill the first few mobs. If you get overwhelmed, do as much damage as possible, skurt them back to the entrance. Get them into melee, get a good hit in. And then just leave. Go outside the dungeon, for some reason they never followed me out. Take your time healing, and then just go back in and hit them, blah blah, till you finished dungeon. Boom.

Haven't played with recent updates since I've been busy with other games, but this is honestly one of my favorite RPGs. Good memories and distractions from my life. I can't wait for more updates to come out and see how they progress with this game. I'm not sure if they brought out the "create your own character" yet, since there were only like.. 5 premade characters when I played, but very excited for that once it comes out. Especially since I'm the type to play mages and such, I'm excited to see the other types of magic and such. (Only ones I think I got to use was Geo/Pyro/Electro?) Especially starting as a mage of my own style.

Overall yes, I do definitely recommend this game to anyone interested. 10/10. Just think about your actions and don't just charge in. Lmao. Take your time and pace it, and just always always save the moment you get back from your time in the forest, other towns, dungeons, etc.
