It's not even a moba tho.

Update:
Man I defended this game a lot when it first released. Fact is in 2024 this ♥♥♥♥ isn't fun, and the previous titles in the series just feel so much better. Maybe I've just got too many hours in it, but after hundreds of hours in the other DoW games they still feel fun, so: not recommended.

This "meat grinder" you're referring to shows that you do not have a grasp of how to play this game strategically. Your general lack of knowledge about key features in the game also probably goes some way to explaining why you don't like it, too.

Not every RTS game had the ability to build turrets. I'm quite sure that's not a defining feature of the genre. As well as that, Relic stated that they didn't want to include turrets because it encourages the player to become lax, as well as encouraging sitting behind your turret wall and doing nothing, rather than encouraging pushing. Waaaaagh! towers aren't meant to act as defensive turrets that can take care of themselves independently, they function as research buildings as well as providing buffs for nearby infantry. You're meant to defend key positions by manoeuvring your units correctly i.e. strategy.
You reinforce units at your production structures, and your allies'.
You can upgrade specific units in squads, for example, tactical marines.

"There is no basebuilding defense" what?
"Hurtling bodies against each other" no, it's building the right units for the job and ordering them to perform the correct actions in the correct directions for the best result. Sounds like you just don't know how to play the game.

It's not directly ripped from LoL. It has more elements than just destroying a series of turrets, and LoL isn't the only game with turrets. The turrets even perform completely differently to those in LoL, as well as any MOBA I know of.
As MOBAs spawned from the RTS genre, then by that logic is not the entire MOBA genre itself "shameless"?

They just directly ripped turrets and the core mechanic from LoL. It looks so out of place and therefore shameless.

The only elements it borrows from a MOBA are the turrets and generator in the multiplayer. And it works pretty nicely from what I've experienced (23 hours in the beta too). I fail to see whats shameless about it.

The point is that it clearly borrows elements from a MOBA. Pretty shamelessly and the implementation is just rough.
