Do not bother. This game didn't really need a remaster, and while there are graphical improvements, lighting engine is broken half the time and it kills the vibe. If the original is still available, get that one instead. The story is the same, and you'll get less glitches.

As much as it pains me to say, this remaster is, at the time of writing this review anyway, kinda broken. I'll try to cover most of the details and rights/wrongs I was able to find and experience.

This aspect, thankfully, didn't change. The story is amazing and quite the experience. But that didn't get changes, so no point of covering it.

What this did right? Well, for one, some of the graphics got a really nice upgrade while not generally not hurting the performance, if you need to take that into account. Facial animations are a ton better, and you can actually tell what the character says by looking at their mouth. The lights, if they decide to work correctly, are also a lot better, but more on those later. Overall, I can see where the team tried to improve the game and it does show sometimes. And if it does, it's great.

As mentioned earlier, one of the major negatives is the lighting engine. I think the team wanted a more, should I say, realistic feel to it and maybe got too ambitious. At lot of occasions, it looks as if the lights are set to hella-high, because things are either super dark, or super bright. And it happens way too often to the point, where you're way too focused on why the hell is your characters eyes completely black, or why is this person's skin white as a wall to really care on what's going on in the story. I'm sure you can find screenshots, I might even post mine that I was able to capture.
One thing that also happened, although rarely, was floating objects. I think they were meant to do something, but instead they just floated in place.
Stability-wise, I had only one crash, but one quite unfortunate. It happened right in the ending scene, and without playing the last part, I was not able to get to it, so I technically skipped part of the ending.

LiS: Before the Storm is honestly a great game and a great prequel to the original game. However, I don't think it needed a remaster in the first place, and if it did, at least I'd expect them to do things right. Instead, you get this weird mixture of improvements and downgrades and while that may not matter to some people, it was killing the atmosphere for me. If you can, get the original BtS and play that instead. Everything worked perfectly there (for me at least) and it was really enjoyable experience, plus it's a lot cheaper. 40€ for this plus the original remastered is not justified for me. The game is already out, they cannot change that, but I hope that they can at least fix whatever is broken, so if anyone decides to buy this, they'll have the proper experience and not the broken-fest I had.
