Lifeless Planet is the sort of game you end up with when you have a game developer with a really interesting premise but just doesn't quite manage to pull it off.

This is essentially a jumping platformer, but a "walk around and explore the world" type game rather than the puzzle solving type. There's nothing that's particularly challenging, and rarely is it not obvious what you're supposed to do, so it's really the sort of game if you're looking to explore the world for the story.

The main gripes I had with the game are: 1) Awkward controls; 2) Clumsy transition sequences; 3) Pretty ordinary story writing / exposition; 4) Average end payoff.

Having said that, the premise really is excellent, there are some interesting plot points, and a couple of the sequences I really enjoyed. I wouldn't play this game again, but I probably would buy it for the first time, especially if it's on sale. I just wish that it had been pulled together a bit better.
