The Escapists is a game by Mouldy Toof Studios. It puts you in one of numerous prisons with the simple goal of escaping. But it isn’t as easy as you think, the point of a prison is to keep you in your place, which is what this game does.

You get the choice of one of numerous characters who you can rename, a prison, and the option to name your prisoners if you had a friend you wanted to be with during your life sentence. When it comes to content the game is incredible, there are many different items you can get hold of from soap to post cards. That’s not even all, you can combine items to make more stuff to help you escape; paper mache for fake walls, nunchucks for attacking, key molds, Dummies, glass shanks, fake grates, posters, grappling hooks and so much more!

This game requires lots of planning, you can’t just beat up a guard, take his keys and leave. You need to spend some time exercising to get strong, you need key molds to keep keys or else you get time in solitary, there are guard patrols everywhere and even clogging the toilet with dirt from the hole you’ve been digging. You need to plan how you’re going to escape and balance you actual escape attempt with the prison timetable; eating, sleeping, free time, work and roll call. If you don’t fill your work’s quota then you get fired, complete the quota though and you get money to bribe other prisoners or buy stuff from them.

The actual gameplay itself is really well done, everything is quite solid and the game is most definitely playable. You can choose from many ways to escape, through the vents, underground, through the front door or even starting a riot. The graphics is designed to look 8-bit, a nice look for many games that is also fairly easy to make. The audio in the game is very well made, and if you like the music playing in the background you can get the music from the game’s steam folder.

If you enjoy playing games that require work and planning for you to play and succeed then this is the game for you. I rate this 10/10 in its current Early Access state, it’s a solid game worth the cost to buy it. When it leaves Early Access I don’t think there’s a rating system high enough to grade it… or at least that’s what I think will happen when it leaves Early Access anyway.

Garry’s Mod, a very large game by Facepunch Studios. It gives you the power to do so much and yet it always ends the same way, with blood splattered on the walls. To describe Garry’s Mod is hard but possible, and in sections is the best way to do it.

Garry’s Mod is all about creation, it was originally designed as a sandbox game, where you can spawn hundreds of props in, weld them together and make incredible things. But that was a long time ago and Garry’s Mod isn’t just a game for welding things, now you can use winches, rope, hover balls, emitters, and a very large assortment of weapons.

The game requires a few other games to be installed to see everything though. Source Mod games, the minimum amount of games you’ll need to see the most are the games; Team Fortress 2, Counterstrike: Source and Half Life: Source. The game can still be played without them but is better with them, you can spawn in props and characters from those games too. If you like the medic from TF2 why not rebuild the ‘Meet The Medic’ video clip.

Over the years of people playing around with Garry’s Mod extra game modes were born; Spacebuild (original mod removed), Trouble in Terrorist Town, Murder, Prop Hunt, DarkRP, Sled Build, Bomber Man and many more. These game modes change the way Garry’s Mod played, from once a game about welding to watermelons together and then blowing them up, to thing like finding a traitor and killing him, running from a knife wielding murderer, hiding as a pot plant in the snow and dropping explosive watermelons hoping to win the game.

Apart from the sandbox, hundreds of servers and many game modes; Garry’s Mod also has Steam Workshop support so you can share your creations, download others and play with them or even change the way the game plays like getting a tool that lets you change the weight of an object, a tool that makes props larger or smaller, a gun that shoots Nyan Cats and nuclear bombs you can strap to awesome looking cars that have thrusters stuck to its rear and have a big ramp in front of it hoping to make a big bang so to speak.

If you’re the type of person who likes building things, this is for you. If you’re the type of person who likes killing people, this is for you. If you’re the type of person who likes running into a war zone with balloons stuck to your ears then this is for you. This game is incredible and fit’s almost everyone’s needs; horror, sandbox, building, strategy, comedy and more.

If I were to follow my normal rules for reviewing games and rating them out of 10. I’d be lowering the rating millions of times over to make it low enough to fit. It is extremely fun and the rating 10/10 is an understatement.

Mini Metro, a strategy game by Dinosaur Polo Club that is so simple yet so fun, you’d think that they actually made a game equivalent to Sudoku.

The game revolves around you, a bunch of shapes that resemble stations, train lines and customers that look like shapes. You have to connect all the stations together and get all the passengers to where they want to be without the stations getting crowded. The maps slowly expand revealing more play area to which more stations open up for you to connect to. You can make numerous train lines or add more trains and carriages to existing lines to help transporting passengers.

There are numerous levels to play on, each with rivers where you have to make tunnels through, despite the limited supply. You get a train given to you every week and a choice of an extra tunnel, carriage or train line to get to help you win. Even though it looks easy, it isn’t really. They added an extra mode which is the equivalent of a sandbox mode, where the stations can get full of passengers but the game doesn’t end, this allows you to just build and deliver passengers as you please, while still working with the limited supplies. They plan on making another mode which will be hard-core, only for experienced players, more cities, customers but maybe less or normal amount of assets.

Mini Metro is In Early Access currently (time of review posting) and therefore isn’t finished, a simple game with lots to do. Despite the lack of music, there are big plans for the future and it’s exciting to imagine what comes next. The game comes with the ability to change between colour-blind mode and not colour-blind mode, meaning that players who have trouble with colours can still play the game. There is even a Day and Night mode that changes the colour of the game, white for day and black for night so it doesn’t hurt your eyes. These two features aren’t given often in games but should be added for those who need these options.

This game, despite its easy looks it is quite hard, and that’s something you don’t see much anymore, hard games that look easy. Dinosaur Polo Club have developed a game that is really fun and challenging, something that strategy game lovers need in their steam library.

I rate this game a 9/10. Not a 10 because of the lack of features, but since it’s an Early Access game, a couple more updates and it’ll be a 10/10.

Euro Truck Simulator 2 is the greatest truck driving simulator, and possibly even the best simulator in general of all time. The game, even without any expansion packs is filled with content to the point of exploding. SCS Software made this game, it is the best game to own if you enjoy driving and owning or managing a business.

The trucks that you drive are based off of real trucks driven in real life. Truck companies like Iveco, Daf, Volvo and Scania all exist and not only that, but the models used in the game to resemble these trucks are extremely realistic in both sound and looks. All the trucks in the game are heavy and makes you feel like you’re actually driving a truck as opposed to driving a weightless car, there are penalties to speeding in this game besides getting a speeding ticket, but you could drift and slide unintentionally around the place and damage your truck's engine, suspension and more, whilst also damaging the cargo your delivering. Every truck shop you come across has more than one truck available for purchase, not even three, some shops have around six or seven. Each of those trucks have their own quirks and even that's not enough, not by a long shot, you can customize your truck with paint jobs, lights and even replace the 250hp engine for something with a more kick like a 500hp engine.

The map you play on is the most expansive map in any simulator, with what looks like over 100 roads to drive on, each with their own speed limits and occasionally road works, driving around this game is like a tourist drive in a tank. England not big enough for you? There are train tunnels and boat ports to carry your truck and cargo across the water and continue you on your way around Europe. If this isn't a big map with lots to see and drive on, I don't know what is.

Next is the tycoon part of Euro Truck Simulator 2. It's tough working your own company with you being the only employee, so you can hire other people and buy garages. All across Europe are cities (smaller than real life but even that doesn't ruin anything) and almost all of have a garage that you can buy with slots for vehicles, trucks available for purchase and a recruitment agency from which you can hire truck drivers to earn you some cash, or drive around looking for work and actually cost you money. But that's business.

The AI in Euro Truck Simulator 2 are fairly smart, not super smart as they do tend to drive and stop in front of you about 30cm away when you’re trying to do a U-turn. But that actually makes it realistic because anyone who drives in real life knows that you can't trust other people driving cars, some people are idiots and that's exactly what the AI in this are like. There is even a realistic bank to which you can get a loan for a quick cash injection and pay it back with interest. Pick the amount you want wisely because if you ask for a lot at the very beginning of your game, you'll find out that you will never pay it back.

All things considered, Euro Truck Simulator 2 is the greatest simulator of all time. Customization, driving, jobs, realism, expansion packs, AI and so much more. There is so much to do and all in one game by SCS Software. I myself have played the game for a long time, longer than my steam account says since I owned the game on disk, later buying it on steam because this is a game worth spending the money for, twice.

I rate this game 10/10. But only because when you rate out of 10 you can't go to about 100, where it deserves to be.

Ndemic Creations created Plague Inc: Evolved, a game so brilliant that once you start playing it, you become so involved that when the cure starts being produced, you start to worry.

Plague Inc: Evolved is the second game by Ndemic creations, the first being Plague Inc. It features you as a controller of a disease, what type of disease? Any type that you want. There are many different plagues to pick from and there are even official scenarios like the Black Plague, or global warming. So many different ways to start your game. And that's the best way to start a game.

You pick a name, special genes you unlock by infecting the world that can help you play a starting country and Patient Zero has been released. The game is a little bit slow at the beginning but once you have the points to pick symptoms and ways to infect other people, the game becomes quite fast paced and you have to click on many things. Bubbles appear everywhere, the levels of infected people rises, and before you know it you have infected the world and started to kill (or enslave) them.

The game has beautiful detail, everything you need to see is 3D modelled, for example, the planes and boats you see going around infecting countries are 3D, they have depth, even though usually people play on top speed so you don't even see them for long enough. It's this kind of small details that makes a game great, the creators finding all the issues and designing every aspect, even if it isn't all that necessary.

There are so many different ways to infect the world, you can go straight in with coughs, sneezes and cysts and get noticed quickly, or you can be stealthy and infect everyone with no symptoms and then order the plague to kill, not just that but with plagues like Bio-weapon, the plague starts killing almost instantly, so you get noticed quickly and need to adapt your disease to infect faster than people are dying. Another example of different ways to win is the Necroa Virus, also known as the Zombie Virus, yes this game has a plague that lets you command zombies, make them aggressive or send them to distant lands to infect the country, you decide. A final example of this is the Neurax Worm, it’s a parasite that attaches itself to the human brain, and when you decide it to, controls the brain to do what you want. Whether that’s to go on a plane to a target country, find earthworms, commit suicide or even treat your Neurax Worm like a god and worship it. It's yours to control.

The game is currently being updated at a relatively slow pace but with good reason. They are making the updates fair sized instead of tiny updates that add one thing. They are translating the game into other languages, working to add custom scenarios and even let people infect the world side by side with another player.

Definitely the game to own if you like plagues and viruses, or if you like controlling an extremely realistic disease. Definitely worth every cent I paid for it. With many different ways to win Plague Inc: Evolved, this is a game of coughs, sneezes and choices.

I rate this game 10/10, a game you don’t even need a brain slug to tell you it’s great.

Squad, the creators of Kerbal Space Program, have created a golden game for sci-fi lovers or building fanatics. There is many things to do in Kerbal Space Program that it would be impossible to list them all in a review, but possible if you have the mind for it and the time to be sticking parts to other parts in the game.

This is a game that everyone who enjoys building crazy and awesome contraptions should get. There are many different possible things to make in Kerbal Space Program with the included goal of exploring every planet, planting flags and going for a rover ride.

The game is about creating rockets, satellites and space stations but there are other things to do as well. People have created wacky machines in Kerbal Space Program that doesn't even have to go in space to do incredible things. Such as cannons, weapons and helicopters, and this is all without mods.

The modding community for Kerbal Space Program is a very active community, it may not be Steam Workshop supported but adding mods to Curse is just as good, easy to download, easy to install and all the things the mods add can just add to the insane structures people use to kill kerbals, destroy the game or travel around the galaxy.

There are a few hidden secrets through the game such as an abandoned airport on an island near the space centre, and a monolith with Squad's logo imprinted on it. These secrets can be found in many different places and I've only mentioned a few above. Go out and explore, you'll never know what you will find.

With a recent update to Kerbal Space Program, Squad added Asteroids that people can interact with in space, space exploration isn't the only thing now. Grab a hold upon a massive asteroid and pull it back to kerbin, or collect them and launch them at a space station or a bunch of lined up kerbals resembling bowling pins. There is so much to do in Kerbal Space Program, that I'm not done building what my mind holds, and I'll be damned if I stop now.

Squad has created a game that to me will be remembered forever, and it is certainly worth the money spent on it. With more patches and updates being put upon it, Kerbal Space Program is growing in size. From trips to the moon or deep space exploration it's all possible, in Kerbal Space Program.

I rate this game a 10/10. 1 rating equal to 100 kerbals killed and the size of my smile afterwards.
