Pure unadulterated slop. Capcom decided to remove everything that makes people enjoy Monster Hunter. They added a focus mode that completely trivialized combat and allows you to aim all of your attacks instead of learning how to position properly. They made farming pointless by showering you with rare materials that you can easily target. They designed this huge map filled with flora and fauna and attempted to create a sort of ecosystem, which in theory sounds awesome. Unfortunately, that ecosystem doesn't matter because they give you an autopilot Sekrit that takes you straight to the monster you're hunting and you kind of just run past everything. They double downed on a lengthy campaign with a milquetoast story, filled with annoying slow walking segments and a difficulty level that could make toddlers fall asleep. The game runs terribly for the most part. It's unbelievably blurry if you don't replace the DLSS with DLSS4. There's texture loading issues that happen to everyone and this constantly make areas look worse than they are (I have 24GB VRAM, should not be happening lol). There are segments where the game can look amazing, but those moments are few and far between.

There is something special about the game, but it doesn't outweigh the problems it has. First of all, controller auto aim is broken and ruins the competitive spirit of the game. A controller players who puts in a little bit of practice and has half a functioning brain will absolutely roll you in close quarter combat. The stats are there if you look it up. If you search "Apex Legends controller vs MnK," the first result will show you what I'm talking about. The data gathered from R5 (which is a practice tool for 1v1s and other scenarios in Apex) shows that 1 out of 4 controller players have better accuracy than 99.93% of MnK players, which is absolutely insane. The top 1000 players ranked by accuracy on R5 consists of 996 controller players and 4 mouse and keyboard players. Either have input based matchmaking or nerf auto aim (they will never nerf auto aim, the majority of the player base is controller/console).

Secondly, the audio engine is broken and has gotten worse over time. Getting no audio is the common issue, and it puts you in situations where people sneak up on you when they shouldn't be able to. Legends like Horizon and Conduit are notorious for this. Another example of bad audio happens when too many sound are going off. In these scenarios, the audio clips and you will hear absolutely nothing for a few seconds. This will usually happen in the late game in higher tier ranked lobbies, because a sizable chunk of the lobby will still be alive in the final circles. More people alive means more abilities in close proximity. Multiple Bangalore ultimates and other ability spam going off at the same time will overload the sound processing system and your audio will cut out. Counter-Strike had better audio 25 years ago. Do better.

Third, the game is pretty much in late stage capitalism mode at this point. EA/Respawn will continue to make decisions that targets the wallets of whales and negatively effects your average player. They keep putting out limited time collection events with insanely overpriced cosmetics, targeting your typical FOMO gamer with more money than sense. It's gacha game level if you attempt to get the skin you want from the event, unless you spend hundreds to get the whole event of course. They should just let people buy the skin they want and support the game. Unfortunately, that is a lot to ask for from EA. They are also purposefully making the battlepass worse so you get less value than you used to (it's worth noting that they have walked this back as of 7/24/24, but I fully expect them to attempt it again, so it's still worth mentioning and leaving in the review).

I don't recommend this game, spend your time and money on something better.
