This is not another sequel to Snowrunner or Expeditions, Roadcraft takes the bones of those games and pushes in a completely different direction. It's not just about driving from A to B it's about building the route itself and taming the destroyed landscape by reassembling a broken map bit by bit. I love the sense of accomplishment that comes from seeing an area become easier to traverse over time. Instead of dealing with the same mud pits or swamps over and over you can just fill them in and make your own shortcuts straight through dense woods and difficult terrain. I truly underestimated how much I'd love this gameplay loop.

If I have any criticism so far, and this is only preference, I enjoy the granular system of vehicle upgrades from games like Snowrunner, or being able to change out frame-addons and utilities. In this game every different vehicle is a different tool. You can't just buy a dozer and swtich the style of bucket, grading tool, or logging claw. You need to buy a separate dozer for each of those tasks. You can't just add a logging frame to a truck, you need to buy the logging truck. You're given most tools for free and money isn't hard to accumulate so maybe the complaint is moot, but it feels like an oversight to me.

Excellent so far, give it a shot!
