Editing this review.

I got further into the game.

The gameplay is relatively mediocre, nothing memorable in terms of enjoyable action. If anything, the longer you play the game- the more you realize how little it comes to offer.

It wrenches you in at first, then it becomes a slog. This games version of difficulty is just throwing 100000000000000000000000000000000000 enemies at you with perfect aim who can kill you in 5 seconds, or stopping you in horrendous positioning so you immediately die and get sent back 10 minutes of gameplay and repeat this until you get lucky.

The storytelling is actually pretty horrendous-- at first, it seems relatively interesting; it's fun and cool, you're interested in Jacob's story....... And then you get hours and hours into it and realize it's ♥♥♥♥.

Killing the only remotely enjoyable character in the game for no reason, Jacob making the most boneheaded decisions to ever be possible, your enemies are perfect and know everything and make no mistakes-- then they just fall apart from stupidity.

It's like some 12 year olds effort to try and be Cyberpunk motto of nobody has a happy ending......... Yet, it has no room in this game. The atmosphere isn't there, this isn't it.

Leslie, you should probably hang it up-- if this is the precursor to Everywhere? Give it up before you go bankrupt bud.

The gameplay is pretty typical of a boring third-person cover shooter; there is no redeeming, superb quality to it-- just shoot things, which is fun and all.

What brings this game down? It's the story, a NARRATIVE game, has one of the worst stories I've ever had the displeasure of investing time in. At this point? I'll finish it just to say I did, but I can't recommend this dumpster 'NARRATIVE' experience for 60 dollars.

Also, killing your only enjoyable character in the story? lol. Your story needs to be as good as Cyberpunks to pull that one off-- instead you just tried to copy a Cyberpunk-esque story and flopped like a fish.

This game is not bad, other people are hating it to extreme lengths for obscure reasons.

The UI is not great, that is my largest complaint and one held by most people, but Firaxis has stated they will correct this, so no big deal-- no different than prior titles.

The gameplay loop is actually relatively fun for me, it's the same 'Civilization Loop' we all know and love with different twists; rather than pick America, playing America in the age of antiquity, you now have a different 'empire' with each age.

You play through three ages: Antiquity, Exploration, Modern. Depending what Leader/Empire you pick at the very beginning, will help determine what path you take through the ages (AND, they do inform you of what options you will end up having throughout, so that you are not blindsided).

I.E. I picked Rome in Antiquity with Benjamin Franklin as my leader(Leaders have their own trait bonuses to help you along this game which is cool); in Exploration I had the choice between Norman and Spain I believe, and in Modern I eventually get the option of America + some others.

The Legacy system is also fun, it offers a new twist on how to play the game and complete each era reasonably; mind you, even if you fail to achieve anything during the Legacies, if other empires do, it adds to the Age progression points and you can progress. And based off your Legacy in the last era, you get options for the new one-- even if you achieved no Legacy, options arise from this style.

It's a lot of fun to me, I think it is a fresh take and breath of new air on Civilization as a whole; I think people will come around to it the more they play it; they just need to open their eyes and embrace the new style. It's a different challenge, yet at its core, the game is the same as it always has been.

EDIT: The game has A LOT of positives, and some negatives. The Modern Era is a bit of a mess, and my biggest gripe-- one that makes me wish to put this game down and wait 2 years for them to fix it: There is no more endless, editing out score victory; you can't just keep playing. It's ridiculous.

Buggy mess, I don't comprehend how this was '1.0 release'. I crash constantly, certain functions don't seem to work or are a buggy mess, I will keep trying to see if I can get anywhere deep into the game- but it gets really frustrating when 1) it takes forever to load even on my NVME SSD and 2) it crashes constantly.

That's simply not fun nor enticing gameplay, fix the problems, jesus.

It's a fun, peaceful kind of game-- a Zen game really.
You have enemies, there is combat mechanics in the game; albeit they are very basic, but still fluid-- it's just casting and simple stuff; yet it's inviting and enticing enough to make it 'interesting' and matching the game aesthetic very well.

Regrowing the garden into something large-scale is peaceful and fun; the building is very rudimentary(from what I have experienced so far), but it offers enough for me to enjoy it. The world-shaping aspects whether you do it through hard-work with the shovel or other things, it's lots of fun to watch how you merge canals or rivers, make lakes and fill them with water through the Springs/Wellstones.

Overall, it's a fun game- you can invest a ton of time into this if you like growing things and watching you physically change the world one step at a time; it's not like Planet Crafter where you hit objectives and change the whole planet-- that would take monstrous amounts of time... But you can change what you want, build where you want, with fun game mechanics to toy with, different zones/biomes, a whole story that is pretty cool, and a bunch of other things combining into an enjoyable experience.

Edit: Game still has its flaws, it is not perfect- but the developers sided with the community it seems and got Sony to change their mind-- consumer victory for once.

Great game. Everyone should play it, even better that it's causing Triple A companies to freak out because it's 'raising expectations' for games... Maybe massive companies should just make better games... But regardless, it's super fun and fulfilling.

Honestly shocked this is 'early access'.

Game is plenty of fun, with some random bugs to expect(i.e. a crash every once in a while, but not often at all). Replayable for hours, meet some cool people and kill some bugs.

For 3 dollars, it's worth every penny honestly... It's addicting, definitely a game to play when bored or when nothing else to do, it's easy to play control-wise, you have a max timer to survive 30 minutes with a lot of different characters/weapons combos + weapon evolutions and buffs + extra buffs you can find on maps, and lots of skills to upgrade with coins you get on maps, and can even put together a strat to kill DEATH so you can unlock another secret character.

It's worth every friggin cent and it's CHEAP.

People will complain because it was made by eastern polish people, people will complain because of the attitude of characters in the game, people will complain about bugs in the game.

If anyone has ever played any rpg at all before, they all know bugs exist and they get fixed. Just like with Witcher 3.
It's already in good shape, my pc has had no issues with the game, aside from a bug here and there. But I've had no game-breaking bug that can't be solved by a quick load of an autosave/checkpoint in a mission.

Overall, it looks great when playing on max, I don't care if there aren't as many ai as in 2018 footage; ai takes a heavy strain and can make the game impossible to play with meager pc's.

It's fun, the story is fun, I like the choices and not knowing if/how it'll affect me later on down the road until I get there. I like the freedom and options I have with my character, overall I've enjoyed it a lot and I think you will too, if you like RPG's and understand that with any open-world rpg game, there is bugs.

This game is great honestly. Cheap, great experience, playing alone drives the fear into you, playing with buds drives the fear in you still.

It's spooky, there's jumps, there's speaking with the ghost, there's ouija board hell, there's death.
I love it, game is good constantly even if it's the same stuff technically, just little differences, you just don't know what to expect.

Happy hunting, friends.
