Used to be a great game.
Sneaky, very heavy on strategy and team-play.
Old classic guns, great graphics and ambiance.
Fun and hardcore.
Then they said "♥♥♥♥ it, we fortnight now". Dying is no longer a problem, and one of the guns even has homing properties (remember, it's supposed to be the 1800s).
Crytek killed its own creation on purpose, not really sure why.

Edit 2025: The arcady part of the game was improved... But it still has many stability issues. Game crashes for someone in the squad every 3 or 4 matches. for these kinds of high-stake games... This is unacceptable and completely game-breaking. There's a reconnect feature, but Adversaries can apparently still kill your body while you're out, rendering the feature basically useless.

I'd rate it like a 3/5.
The gameplay is definitely super fun, and delivers.
But everything else...:
- Progression is not obvious, the upgrading menu is completely redesigned almost every year. And with the tree reworked, you sometimes lose access to things you had already unlocked, because now there's some new item in the middle you must have.
- The monetization of the game is atrocious. I understand a F2P game needs micro transactions, but some of this game's "micro"-transactions are 40 bucks. Oftentimes for a single squad, or even a single vehicle (which might not even be endgame!). For 30 to 40 bucks! Outside of these, you also have 40 buck DLCs which are also no more than a tiny bundle of things.
- Many of these paid things actually offer competitive advantage and can't be obtained by playing, effectively making the game a bit pay to win (talking about the paratrooper squads, for example)
- Game was free for years, and suddenly it became Paid. That's a given for some early access titles, but people who had already spent money on micro transactions in the game effectively lost everything once the game itself became paid and they lost access to it. Of course this killed the game, which became free again a year later (duh).
- The AI makes absolutely no sense, and never gets better. At times it even gets worse! One of the biggest problems with the AI is that the bots tend to agglomerate around you. So your own teammates get between you and the enemy, making it impossible for you to fire (you can't shoot through teammates), but the enemies can just mow you all down. Instead of fixing this, they implemented a command system, where you could tell your squad to "spread out", which somewhat fixed this issue. Except you had to send the command every.single.time. you spawned... Fine. But then they removed this feature, without fixing the AI! Now it looks like the bots are programmed to purposefully get in front of you (and stay there). I'd say around 2/5 of the times you die, it's because your own bots are doing everything in their power to shove their asses in your face, to make it impossible for you to shoot back. Even when you lean out a window, they'll ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ climb the window to the very edge, to make sure they can shove their ass in your face.

Earlier I said I saw the potential in this game, while recognizing it was still early access and it was bound to have bugs.
But since then, instead of making the game better, they've actively been making the game worse, introducing game-breaking bugs, where your body disappears. It's literally impossible to now play the game solo, as only other people can see your dropped body, and only you can see theirs.
I've wasted hours looking at floors pressing "F" praying for an invisible body to be there.
♥♥♥♥ this game.

Has been getting better. Still has massive frame drops for some people when a lot of things are crumbling at the same time.

The fact that some guns deal more damage to yourself than the enemy will never make sense.

Hitboxes make absolutely no sense for objects really close to you

Sometimes the game crashes and then just stops... launching. You try to open it, something pops up in your screen and instantly disappears.
Other times it'll tell you it can't sync your files and that if you go forward you might lose all your progress

Great playability, a lot of content, and a really good monetization system for a free game.

After getting this message 6 times, I accepted the game just doesn't exist, and it's just a 70GB launcher that leads nowhere.

The WHOLE game is a "Failed to connect to server. Please try again later." screen. Literally. Reinstalled it several times in both disks (including SSD). Have a perfect internet connection. Got no warnings from it being barred by the firewall. Game just straight up doesn't work.

Wrote a 30 minute review about how much of a ♥♥♥♥ show this bugged game is, pressed "post" and all the text evaporated into thin air.
