EXCELLENT GAME, I've been playing it for a year and a half right now, and only lately have I got good at this game. Incredibly complex and satisfying survival game, trust me. And if you don't... Well, I suppose this essay might change your mind. Enjoy :)

---

The other day I was hauling a load of grocery stuff back home, in one hand I had a 6-pack of 1,5 liter coca-cola bottles, so it was roughly weighing 9 kilograms. In the other hand I carried a bag that was of the same weight, so I split the load evenly between both my shoulders. Nevertheless that was 18 kgs in total... And I made it home but...

It was only then that I realised that perhaps it's not a very good idea to have my character carry as much loot when dealing with hordes of zombies. Even if I have a strong back character and all... It's just not logical. Sure, you need scissors to do some things when out'n'bout, but rather it's sensible to ask what do I not necessarily need. And by necessarily I mean the one thing that this game is about: to stay alive and to feel the responsibility of doing so, because the next instant you may not have all the luxury you've accumulated.

I think many players launch the game and just go with whatever they are feeling like doing at this specific moment. But have you ever stopped to think what an absolute horrror is the chracter going through? Like... Seriously stop for a moment and just imagine to be the last human in God knows how many miles away, no phone, no power, no water, no nothing, everything's on you, you've gotta not only get sure that you actually do wake up tommorow, but also that you'll actually have ways to live your life like a.. civilised being, putting aside the fact the civilization's gone out the window at the moment.

Crossing every road, leaving every building, coming back home after dusk, being concentrated too much on your thoughts at that specific dread moment, it's all a possible ticket to a horrible demise. How's that sound? Did you ever have a chance to even consider how it'd be like to be in this kind of danger?

Not until you've played enough PZ to see what the game's all about. I'm not sure if it's really intentional, like if they really thought this through at one moment, like "Hey, this philosophical question is rather interesting, why don't we make a banger of a game for thousands of people to play to maybe make just one of 'em consider this important question...?". And then they went "♥♥♥♥ yeah", not knowing someone's gonna crack it.

So what is this game about? It's about TA-KING RES-PON-SIBI-LITY. It's about knowing that no matter how much you gathered, no matter how sneaky you be, no matter how much experience you've got... DEATH FINDS A WAY. And you have to remember one thing - you will eventually have to let go of everything that you have in this life, ultimately, inevitably. And there's nothing you can do about it.

And why I do play this game is this:

When I get bored in Mauldraugh and decide to drive to West Point to find out what the annotated map points to, I'm pretty sure having survived well over a month in not that easy town, it'll be a breeze. Then I realise I woke up pretty late and by the time I get to West Points it's already getting dark. I drive by many houses, all of them feel like they're same, that's liike everything else I've been to already, let's just get there already. And then it's too dark, suddenly I've gotta decide what to do, but HEY, IS THIS A RANDOM SURVIVOR HOUSE? Why not stop there??? Well, maybe because there's a strong welcoming commitee out the door and yeah, I managed to get in through the window, and yeah, I killed some of them when they went through that window, but in the meantime, they also got in through front door, in seconds, and in through all of the other windows as well, and there's like a dozen of them in already, and I'm like one solitary soul in the county... so I push, so I grunt, so I panic, so I... die...

All it takes is this one moment of misjudement, this one moment of turning your head away because your spouse is bringing you a bowl of soup and you forgot to pause the game, all it takes is FORGETTING that you're THE ONLY ONE who's responsible for keeping this character alive... and YOU PAY THE PRICE.

And you know what? I honor the authors of this brilliant game for the opportunity to LEARN what you will INEVITABLY have to learn one day... And it's that it's not all about what wealth and power you gain here on earth, it's not about it at all, it's all about HOW YOU LIVE, not HOW YOU DIE. It's about whether you're capable of TAKING CARE of another being, and really... It goes deeper than that but that's really enough deep here. I'll finish.

How many times have you heard youtubers say that "OOOH THIS GAME'S TELLING YOU THAT YOU'RE DEAD THE MOMENT YOU START, SO WOW, SO INDIE", well no, this is the biggest prank that The Indie Stone rolled on everyone as you can see.

In this ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ apocalypse I would have not made it home with the coca-cola, that's for sure. And that would not be resposible of me. It would not. See? I do learn.
