Beat the game to prove a point that I don't just need to "git gud" before this review.

They have a fun game set but frequently step on their own toes with awful design decisions. An ice world? Losing all horizontal momentum if you bump your head? Stages that require precise timing but don't reset the traps so you learning said timing is awkward and inconsistent (5-10 I'm looking at you a lot here)? The occasional random level clearly made for co-op that is impossible in singleplayer (world 4-4x2)? Buggy spikes that don't load in until after your initial death so you can get 75% through a stage in your first run then suddenly struggle to get 25% through? Fireballs that come out of lava, go downwards to potentially hit you again and go invisible behind lava making them harder to dodge by reaction, oh also they don't seem to have a pattern with nearby fireballs to make them harder to time? The entire existence of 6-9?

Furthermore for every firm but fair level there's another with literal esoteric ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ that you can't know unless you've already gotten through the level before like blocks in the floor that crush you, fake blocks you can walk or fall through and basically any stage with multiple teleporters.

Also for some reason the difference between a long and short jump is super inconsistent which ♥♥♥♥♥ up a lot of levels and makes performing a VERY carefully timed and spaced long jump in places clearly intended for a short jump the more consistent method for harder levels.

I came off very few levels feeling like I'd improved and solved the level, I ended up feeling more like I got lucky. Maybe I'm criticising a game designed to just be youtuber bait too much, but for my money this just wasn't worth it. The £1.39 on sale is maybe reasonable, but £3.99 is too much. I wish I cleared the game an hour earlier so I could refund it.

Also don't say "it's fun with friends lol" since every game is fun with friends, that's why they're your friends because you have fun doing things with them.

Not worth the price in its current state, but a fun game where you get to contemplate the tactical application of crack cocaine.

Awful controls. The mapping is nonsensical on Index. Additionally I feel no precision in my movements compared to a game like Blade and Sorcery (especially with two handed weapons) and this game doesn't have nearly the amount of freedom in combat that offers.

Buggy, been soft locked more than once in only an hour.

Ugly. I have a 3090 so it wasn't for lack of trying, the game is just hideous looking for the most part.

Expensive. £30, ♥♥♥♥ off.

Wait for a sale AND major improvements or get Blade and Sorcery for a more reasonable price and being able to mod it however you see fit.

I really want to like this game, but in this state with this pricetag I just can't recommend it. There's bundles of potential here so keep your eye on it but don't buy it.

No lobbies or players, no singleplayer content. Avoid until it has a population or compelling singleplayer.

A dry, boring MMO that sadly has great combat. The main quests are dull, the story and voice acting sucks, cutscenes are often unskippable, animation is usually more miss than hit. Worst part is that you are forced to experience the terrible quests if you want to level up. Quests being a term used very loosely, if you consider a walk to the shops and talking to the cashier a quest then yes this game has quests.

I hear the end game is good, I'm not even close to there yet as I'm at level 34. The end game could be Half Life 3, and in my opinion that wouldn't make up for the slog that is the rest of the game leading up to it.

EDIT: After beginning Abyssal and Chaos Dungeons AND doing Chaos Gates I'm finally having fun, however it took far too long to get here and a lot of the mechanics surrounding this fun part are still slow and boring.

Did you enjoy Warhammer 2? If yes then get this game when it's a price that suits you.

Have you not touched a Total War game? Get it on gamepass for £1 and give it a try to make your mind up.

I am really enjoying my time and with the amount of mixed feedback I think it's just better to try it for yourself.
