Aside from the harsh difficulty, an issue with this game i saw someone had was that the the two available law trees lead to you becoming a dictator who kills anyone who disagrees and this is true. The end of both law trees leads to an authoritarian government. But then again you don't have to finish the trees...

Frostpunk actually has a really interesting commentary on humanity. You don't have to be cruel and authoritative but it's so unbelievably difficult not to be when faced with adversity. Most games that comment on human nature have clear choices where it's only minor changes and benefits. In Frostpunk you do evil thinking it's good because you have to survive right?

The end of both trees gives major benefits for keeping control and therefore making your society stronger. All it costs is freedom.

In my personal journey I prioritised moral integrity. Always choosing peace and the people and watchman lived together happily, it was nice. But things got harder, colder. So we needed to keep up hope, propaganda? short re-education sentences for undesirables? Justifiable at the time. Until a storm came, chaos reigned and to reassert control we executed those who were against the New Order. We survived! But instead of a society of free hard workers I was left with a society of slaves.

In the face adversity we must choose what matters more, our morals or our survival. For a generation who can look back judging the mistakes of the past, frostpunk gives an opportunity to see how far you'd go when hard decisions have to be made. History is paved with good intentions, just ask the dead.

Now get those kids back in the mine! We need more steel for my statue, I'm very excited!
