Well, this sucks. I'm frustrated writing this short review. This is what? The third time i guess that i try to play this game...
The LoTRs setting is great, the visuals/graphics too and it is a very well optimized game for PC, but the combat is just terrible. This game has the Batman combat and even though i had fun with the two Batman games (a long time ago) and i think i could have fun playing them again, this kind of combat for this game makes NO SENSE.

95% of the time you can only kill the enemies by doing a killing animation (i'm talking about killing, fighting, with a SWORD) by pressing two buttons together. You character uses a SWORD but instead of the sword to be able to slash enemies, it feels like the sword is made of WOOD because it feels like you are slapping or punching the enemies. And then you have the killing animation (with the sword) that takes 3 seconds to complete but if there are other enemies around, you gonna have to stop the animation to counter them, which ruins the flow of the combat. You can kill with one hit/one shot by using the BOW and the DAGGER, but ARROWS are not infinite and being forced to play the entire game by using the bow or only in stealth mode sucks. I know it makes sense for the character to go stealthly since the place is very dangerous, but it sucks to be kinda forced to kill enemies by using only the dagger. Also, if you get spotted, the game makes 15 to 20 ORCS appear out of nowhere and it becomes a mess to deal with them.

I will maybe try the game again later when i feel like consuming some media related to LoTR, but for now, i can't continue.

This became one of my favorite games ever. I know that the AC series was reboot with Origins but i've never played Origins (i've only read the story) and i wasn't a fan at all of the AC games. I decided to pick this one because people said (fans of the AC series) it isn't an Assassin's Creed game and because of the RPG elements and open world.

*Here are the positive (imo) about this game:
+ Visuals are amazing. The Greece depicted in this game is more of a Disneyland Greece with gigantic bronze statues everywhere but it doesn't matter, the game is beautiful, the scenery will make you stop for a while just to appreciate the rays of the sun passing through the trees in that multicolored forest, or you will stop to admire the temples and cities and all it's amazing details.

+ The combat/gameplay is fun as hell. Combat is very dynamic, you have dodge and parry, you have a good amount of skills to create builds and have fun killing or incapacitating enemies. Stealth is actually fun (i'm not a fan of stealth in games but here it is well done), bow gameplay is satisfying but i just love the melee gameplay because of how good it is. Navigation through the map is so easy, the freedom to jump and climb anything is so good.

+ Naval gameplay is fun as hell too. You can upgrade your ship, you can hunt elite or special ships to earn skins for your ship and being able to sail through the waters of ancient Greece is amazing.

+ You can play as a male (Alexios) or female (Kassandra) character, but it seems that the female character is the canon one. Kassandra is a great protagonist, she is cute, beautiful, strong and has a very distinct personality, i love her VA too.

+ Being able to see the mythical creatures (in the base game) and the gods (in the Atlantis DLC) is amazing if you like the Greek myths.

+ In terms of performance, i have a Ryzen 5 2600 + GTX 1060 6GB + 16GB RAM DDR4 and i was able to play at high settings and 55-60FPS at 1366x768 but it seems that the game is not very optimized since people with better hardware suffer from frame dips. It works for me though.

+ The cultist hunt, the mercenary system and the loot system is cool AF and will keep you entertained during the entire game.


*Now the bad (imo):
- The sidequests and the choices you can make (in the DLCs though) are "meh" at best and some choices are ignored by the game which kinda sucks. The MAIN QUESTS and decisions you can make in them are fine, but don't expect Witcher 3 or OLD Bioware quests/choices/dialogues/wiriting here.

- The exploration of the world map and the areas can get a bit repetitive. I was able to ignore this because i really enjoyed the combat, getting loot and i'm a completionist (kinda).

- For some reason the devs thought it was a good idea to put in the world some NPCs and items tied to sidequests. This was kind of a problem for me because i had ONE sidequest where there was a dialogue about something that i've never experienced since i got the quest item early (while exploring the world) and some immersion breaking when i couldn't interact/speak with some NPCs because they only activate after you get the sidequest for them.

- The first DLC, Legacy of the First Blade is...complicated. It has a "okay" story and a "more of the same" feel and content. The problem for ME (and a lot of people if you search on Reddit and the Ubisoft forums) is a decision your character make that the devs should have thought a little more before doing it. I can only speak if you are playing as Kassandra, but she does something in this DLC that will feel like a punch in the stomach and make you say: "Are you f****ng serious now?!". The problem is not Kassandra per se but the NPC. Not gonna give spoilers. Also the choices you make are pretty much ignored, which is dumb because this didn't happened in the base game.


FINAL CONSIDERATIONS: People say you need to farm/grind XP to be able to do some main quests and that it is impossible to kill a enemy 2 or even 5 levels above you. First, i've never had to grind XP and only used the temporary XP boost i got from the Ultimate Version and the one from the Achievment points you earn while playing the game. Second, if you upgrade your weapons, you can kill enemies stronger than you, at least with fire i was able to kill some enemies that were 2 or even 5 levels above me without any issues.
I would say it's worth it to get one of the two horse skins that has wings so you can traverse the areas with a horse that won't die from fall damage.

I love this game and will probably play it one more time even though it is GIGANTIC.

It is like the first game but better in every aspect, the visuals are ridiculously insane, it feels like you are playing a CGI video instead of a video game. Also Lara is way cuter and hotter in this game. ;)

***EDIT: Devs changed some BS network stuff and now you are FORCED to link an Epic Games Account to play even the single-player. This is ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ ridiculous.***

An amazing action game with solid gunplay, good story and characters (well, Lara is the best one but her friends are ok) and nice visuals/graphics too.

***EDIT: Devs changed some network stuff and now you can't play the game without linking an EGS account, even for SINGLE-PLAYER. This is insane.***
