Absolute garbage. The fact that this "game" is still for sale is beyond disgusting. There is no playable version of this game. When you install it, you just get error message after error message. I hope that one day there's a lawsuit against the devs so more people can get a refund.

It's a fun game! Though I love swarm games, so I'm pretty biased. But I've a lot of fun with it in the first hour of playing it. Sometimes the hit boxes seem to struggle a bit and I'll take a hit when I was blocking it. But once you start to unlock the ranged weapons it takes on a whole new level of fun!

"This is a Free Trial that allows you to play free up to level 70 with no restrictions on play time". Unless of course you have played in the past for a few hours and you were still on the fence about spending money on the game, so now a few years later you want to try it again on the same account but are told you aren't eligible for a free trial and you have to pay for the game. If that's the case, then f*** you! So much for "no restrictions on play time".

The game won't even launch for me anymore. Even with a fresh install—I click Play, the Play button because a Stop button, it launches BattleEye, and then without an error message or anything, within a few seconds the Stop button switches back to the Play button. Again, no error message, not indication as to what happened. I just won't load.

Great music here! I love this soundtrack--it's so fitting for the game and really creates a great vibe if you're listening to it outside the game.

EA has completely ruined this franchise that used to be a boundary pushing work of creative genius. But Sims 4 is just a lazy and sorry excuse for innovation and creativity. It does nothing special and locks many of the features that used to be in Sims 3 behind paywalls in the form of DLC just to squeeze more money out of its fans. If this is all they've got to offer, play anything else.

The best way to describe this game is to say it's all spectacle with no substance. As of writing this review, I've only played 2 hours—but I really had to struggle to get it to even that number. For first impressions, it's just not doing great. Let me give you some examples.

The first boss you fight in the opening area, his name is King Verte. Combat is already a slog (I'll get to that) so after strafing around King Verte for a couple minutes as his health bar slowly dropped and mine hardly moved, at about 25% HP left, a cut scene started, and instead of getting to finish off the big boss enemy I just spent the last few minutes fighting, I got to watch my character defeat the boss. Then immediately after all the NPCs are talking about how they heard some strong hero single-handedly defeated King Verte—but I couldn't take any pride in knowing it was me because I wasn't the one that killed him; my character killed him, and that took away the satisfaction.

On the topic of cut scenes, there are so so so very many cut scenes. It felt like every 10 seconds of game play was broken up by 30 seconds of cut scenes. And all the pre-rendered cut scenes are locked at 30fps, so if you're playing the game at 144fps like I was, suddenly and constantly dropping to 30fps to watch a cut scene is very jarring.

No as for the combat, it is beyond boring. You click on an enemy you'd like to target, then tell your person to attack. And that's about it. Your character auto attacks until the enemy is dead. You do have skills that you can use, but none of the beginning skills are anything that exciting or special. I was hoping for more of an action RPG type system, but I also know there are people that like combat like this, so to each their own I suppose.

Don't even get me started on "Helpie". It's the most unimaginative character since Paimon, and somehow 10x more annoying and just completely removes any seriousness this game could have had.

Last, I want to talk about the modes. I started on Action mode because I thought maybe it would give me the option of a more action RPG type combat system. But no, it just changes how you interact with the game and how the camera control works. In Action mode you freely move the camera around without having to click, but then to interact with any menus you have to press Alt to bring up the cursor, and then you have to press Alt again to hide the cursor. The Action mode feels like it was an afterthought they threw in right before release because it makes everything feel so much more clunky—which is odd because you'd think with a mode name of "Action" it would feel smooth and quick. But no, going with Classic is the best option.

Would I recommend this game? Absolutely not. In the first 2 hours I felt no connection to any of the characters, the story is beyond boring and unengaging and it feels like there are so many "mobile game" systems that it would take hours just to figure out what each one of them does and why they are even there. The over abundance of systems is to slow progress and require so many useless elements and currencies that can all be sped up if you just spend money so if you don't it's a slog and it's more frustrating than fun.

It has a lot of potential, but suffers from a lot of the same issues so many other survival games do. If you're meant to survive in a harsh world using anything and everything around you, the environment can't have decorative items in it that you can't use. For example, if I'm tasked with gathering supplies to build a fire, and I need to collect rocks around me, there can't be specific rocks I have to collect while other rocks that are clearly rocks can't be used because they aren't the "right" rocks.

There's also a much bigger potential disconnect when going for gritty realism when exceptions are made. For example, I understand how in some games hiding in tall grass will hide where you are from other people. But if you're hiding from a pack of wolves and duck into a patch of grass, you're still going to be found. It just seems like an easy out for how to program hiding from wolves. Obviously not game breaking and at least you can easily hide so you can keep playing after the wolf has passed, but not exactly very immersive and becomes laughable.

The last gripe I had is the mouse smoothing while looking around. I get how in theory it would look nice to have a quadric transition out of mouse movement, but it makes the whole game feel inaccurate and sluggish since after I stop looking around, the camera slows to a gradual halt instead of stopping right where I stopped.

All in all, it has quite a bit of potential and could be a lot of fun! It's just not quite there yet.

This is one of those games that unless you're ready to watch countless hours of tutorials on how to even play this game at a very basic level, you'll just be wandering around aimlessly not sure how to do anything. It's cool it exists for people that are looking for that kind of thing—but I'm more of a "casual" survival game player like Rust or 7 Days to Die.

I clocked about 100 hours back in 2014 before this was on Steam. Back in 2015 I played for almost 2 hours on here, but then the friend I used to play with stopped playing, so I did too. Today I randomly remembered this game existed, so I tried installing it. After waiting for the 50gb download to finish, I launched the game only to be met with the launcher and told there was another 26gb patch. So after waiting for that to finish I was told "Patch failed", and the launcher closed. When I reopened it it started downloading the same 26gb patch. I let it finish, and I was told again "Patch failed". So after closing and reopening the launcher and seeing the same patch trying to download, I am giving up. I do not recommend this game.
