Nice blend of tactics and deckbuilding that are tested on a few procedure-generated maps that each contains several nodes that represent short combats, and of course, seasoned bosses on each map. But the real magic is in the details: The simple yet effective card-based mechanics (that allows you to strike, block, dodge and dash around) and it's rewarding feeling of flow and deliberation that eclipses the chance and luck factor; the customization and array of possibilities of decks lets you specialize yourself: Strike and kick your opponents from afar, be an excellent grappler and throw your opponents out of balance, be a master of defense and block and dodge every strike ready to counter them or just mix those strategy together as you want those actions to pop on your hand. Fights on tight spaces is one of those games that offers what it is. It's what it looks like: Simple but alluring, if you're here reading reviews on it you know you're in. And once you're in, you'll be hooked instantly.

I love a good survival shooter. And this one keeps the genre always fresh, alive and kicking. Same metal pop-culture tribute as the former title but with a seemingly fresh face. Good for those new to the genre and for those vets that come for suicidal/heart-pounding/trigger-happy/meat-grinder non-stop action. Has a nice and versatile class system with a variety of weapons to master and combine in a team-play style that comes alive on the nastiest of difficulties. Also has a built-in leveling system for each class that will get you hooked hacking and shooting your way through hordes of hordes of mutants praying for stay alive for just another wave to spend your hard-earned dosh in bigger guns. But believe me. You will stay just because it's ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ fun.

I love flashback and I instabuyed this one. With a smile on my face I was running it until I open the config menu and realize that you can't remap key config. (???)
"Ok, just a setback won't get you down" as I struggled to move in the jungle with the worst key configuration to see daylight. Then I accidentally hit Quit... No problem... "Are you sure?" wild type of popup appears. I hit no, AND THE WHOLE LEVEL RESTARTS... WHAT ... THE ... ♥♥♥♥.
Just for this... Big NO on this one.

Can use a better survival/camp system and some control on randomness on quests. I haven't play much but seems to me that the camp system dificulty is too dire to rely on pure luck (on scavenged items). The combat system seems pretty good to me and pretty balanced, even if the animations aren't the greatest. I love executing punks with a baseball bat!
Overall this game is pretty OK and deserve a handful of playthroughs if you love RPG games or "Rogue-lites".

Since a long time I've seen a lot of developers publish a variety of games under the "Rogue-like" flag, now that we have plenty of choices on the genre we have lost track of the origins of the concept, I've seen a lot of people reject the idea of Rogue-Like as a classification as it is based on a single title (like metroidvanias) and I can understand why, since there are too many titles that replicates aspects of the genre without bringing too much of the original substance to the gameplay. How I understand it, a Rogue-like is a Tabletop-like RPG experience with high replayability value, and this, is where NEO Scavenger shines the most. It's difficult to know what the secret ingredient to make a Rogue-like is, surely it goes beyond the system and mechanics. Maybe it is the complexity and depth of the choices spectrum offered to you, maybe it is the knowledge curve and experience that the game demands to explore it, maybe it's the cruelty and the random ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ that makes every run special and a hard-earned experience, NEO Scavenger has them all, but brings a lot more to the table and makes justice to the genre. I love the ambience of the text-based Points of interest with a simple but effective narrative prowess, I love the map navigation system with tracks and hiding places making the map a very influyent aspect of the game (much more than a shop, a stair up and a stair down), I love all the lore, crazy factions, and characters I've met, I love the eastereggs and crazy small features that enriches the game, but my favorite feature of this game is the brutal combat system, here you can see a wide variety of relevant commands and status that refracts the tide of the battle in their own special way. Forget about hacking and slashing every turn or you'll get your skull crushed onto the floor pretty soon.

Don't mind the butthurt reviews, if you're into tcg you should give it a try.
It is original and have nice mechanics, it isn't pay to win, and the community is small but is really nice and helpful, has trading system, ranked, draft and everything that a TCG needs.

Today I saw the glow.
A terrifying radiation storm.
So I shared the view with my friends at sanctuary, with violent stories and some psycho and jet too.

Don't ask yourself if it's a good sequel or not, or if it "does justice" or not, ask yourself if you like Hotline Miami as a universe. Hell I know I do.
The same trippy insanity, in a different anachronic storyline, with a diverse array of characters each one with his own psychopathy and therefore, with a different flavor in gameplay, just as we saw in Hotline miami 1. The game itself tries to tell you that any different character is another game as a whole, from a puzzle game, to a bullethell dodging, to reckless ultra-violence, and to be honest the list keeps getting more interesting with time but I don't wanna spoil the fun.
Get your mask and get back in the saddle, period.
