While the history of this game is infamous, the nature of how the game came about is part the reason of how the game should also be played. Its based on a paper based TTRPG and not a JRPG - so part of the experience is how you choose to play. Its far closer to games like GTA than it is Final Fantasy, with a vast open world and a great setting.

The main story lines lead to 5 different endings and yes, the choices you make only change that path so much. But the vast amount of side quests, sudden instances and achievable achievements is what has entertained me so much. Memories of cruisin' down the beach in Vice City listening to 80s classics has now been joined of screamin' down the main highway on my bike listening to Samurai.

Is it glitchy? Yes, but not so that its unplayable - yet to play a game that didn't act odd at some point.

But what is fun is to play how the character thinks - TTRPGs are all about immersion, and if you immerse yourself in this game you do get rewarded. A streetkid living by codes or an ex-corpo turned renegade out for revenge.. make the "Open" part of the world your own narrative and you will have fun.

Plus you get to meet a talking gun.. whats not to like there?
