This is an old PC game, updated for compatibility with modern systems & steam. It is not a remaster, so the graphics are as they were in the original release, which if its a nostalgic favourite, adds to the charm. There are some visual bugs with the game, many other players have mentioned that the horses load as a white "ghost" where you can't see the colour of the horse or tack only the 3D model shape and sometimes the tail is coloured. Whilst it is understandable that this is a casual game probably targeted at children, there are some balance issues with the gameplay where the difficulty from 3-star to 4-star rises exponentially, especially in the cross country challenges. It is also possible to max-out a horses stats pretty quickly by grinding at the lower level competitions. It is also a fairly short game, and can be completed in about 5-6 hrs if you skip the horse care aspect of the game until it starts affecting your competition stats and rinse repeat. On a less technical aside, i get a bit sad that for the cross-country tutorial you really have to wear out your horse to pass the level :( you can make yourself feel better by giving your virtual horsie lots of pats tho.
UPDATE: If you run the game from the .exe instead of the steam launcher, the horses and tack display correctly.

Didnt have high expectations, had an absolute blast while also being challenged. Would spend $2 again.

I got this game as a joke after inbreeding an unethical number of kangaroos in planet zoo. After 30mins of game play, i finally worked out how to make budgies shag, there are so many budgies (oh god, the screaming).

11/10 best purchase of Autumn 2023.

Graphical style and music are great, game mechanism is a pleasant way to kill time. But 17mins and its over, dear devs please make more levels.

It's Free to Play and then literally everything else is microtransactions.
Models and attention to detail look good if you're prepared to spend real money.

Short and sweet semi-autobiographical puzzle game. Very cute and perfect for a chill afternoon.

After 17 hours I've maxed out the current iteration of career mode. So far I've found it to be an enjoyable experience if you're looking for a repetitive, low-stakes simulator game, at times I even found it difficult to stop playing, cleaning virtual dirt is so darn satisfying.
It's impossible not to compare it to House Flipper, and whilst I acknowledge that PowerWash Simulator is still in early access, it's missing some quality that's hard to put my finger on. Whether that be achievements, a Free Play mode that has any meaningful incentive to play, or some sort of internal reward system such as unlocking new tools, it's hard to say. The humour is also a little off the mark, it's funny but not that funny and most of the time the scripting felt like an afterthought.
I am also a little irked that after maxing out career mode, there's no apparent way to earn more money and thus unlock the last high level items after I blew all my money on soap (the most efficient way to clean anything), utterly infuriating for the completionist part of my brain. Speaking of soap, I don't think there's enough differentiation between the different types to make them worthwhile - just buy the universal soap and don't worry about the others.
All in all, its a fun, mindless little game and I don't regret the $30 I spent for 17hrs of my time. Recommended for other Simulation fans.
UPDATE (Aug 21): The addition of speed challenges and new maps add value.

Ongoing updates add and repair much needed functionality and delight with more gameplay. Fun references to pop culture like Breaking Bad. Maximise your earnings or enjoy as a casual time-waster.
