♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ game, "it was all a dream" plot + pro-genocide plotline. Like literally the most reprehensible piece of interactive fiction I've ever played

Oh don't get me wrong the gameplay is amazing, the characters are amazing, the sacrifices of the expeditions are harrowing and literally made me cry at points, the beginning of act 3 is one of the most pumped moments in gaming and the end of act 1 is one of the saddest, and then the game tells you, textually

"None of this matters, none of the characters you've been playing with for 50 hours matter. At all. Also we're going to exterminate their entire race to solve our family drama." That's the *GOOD ENDING*, the ending where you ethnically cleanse and exterminate everyone in the entire game, is the GOOD ENDING.

The difference in outcome to the plot if your characters had stayed home or gone on their adventure is literally identical. A complete baffling misstep from a clearly very skilled team, I can only speculate that the story lead started with wanting a conclusion where genocide by a self-described "superior race" towards an "inferior race" is framed as a moral good

10/10 until the last hour of the game
then -10/10, a direct insult to the player for having bothered to care about the characters and the story and to life itself

Fantastic product even at this early stage, I can whip up a street or dungeon map quickly if my players go off the beaten path. For more specific maps I'm still sticking to more mature tools, but once this one gets the roadmapped features it will be my bread and butter for everything. It's SO FAST

The game has bugs, but less than a typical open world RPG game (believe it or not). If you have the hardware to run it, it's amazing
