I'm glad I played this while it was free because now I know not to waste my money on it.
It's a card battler, and a dating sim, and an open world exploration, with multiple crafting systems, and endless cutscenes.
The writing is too weak for it to be a compelling dating sim, and the card battler is underwhelming too.
Each hero has their own unique deck with it's own gimmick, but the synergies between them are nonexistant.
Your team changes with EVERY mission, so you can't rely on any specific combos and instead are forced to build each hero's deck to be viable in isolation. It makes them all feel samey and repetitive.
If we ignore the dating sim aspect of this game, then Steamworld Quest is a MUCH better version of MMS, for less than half the price.

A brilliant roguelike which is equal parts Motherload and Missile Command woven beautifully together.

NO TUTORIAL.
Struggled immensely to learn the mechanics through trial and error, only for the game to crash when I tried to take flour out of the windmill. Not a great first experience, might try the game again in a few months if it gets some updates.

Oh man......
You KNOW you've found a really exciting game when one of your most-used hotkeys is an in-game link to Wolfram Alpha.
It's actually a very neat puzzle game and I'm having a great time with it. But I was also a math major before I dropped out so I might be objectively wrong here.

PLAY THE DEMO!!!
Card Shark is brilliantly made. It is EXTREMELY polished. Even the tutorial is exceptional.
Just play the demo and you'll see what I mean.

TL;DR: This game is a must buy, and if mods are not important to you, get mobile version instead!

This review assumes you are already familiar with the physical card game.
Sentinels of the Multiverse the video game is very well made, a plethora of new art makes it look spectacular, and the computer keeps track of all the rules so you don't have to!
Overall, the video game is a much chiller play experience compared to the physical card game, you just do whatever you want, and the computer will gently remind you that Bunker can't play cards right now.
On the other hand.... because the computer is keeping track of everything for you, it becomes a lot easier to lose track of where the damage is coming from, or what the biggest threats really are.
All of this is to say that Sentinels of the Multiverse the Video Game is the single BEST way to play SotM in single player, but I prefer the physical version when playing with others.
That said, it's not as simple as just "get it!" because.... I barely play the steam version at all.
I play on mobile.
In my opinion, Sentinels of the Multiverse the Video Game is the single greatest mobile game on the market (not that the competition was terribly fierce *cough* *cough* Raid Shadow Legends *cough*)
The one downside is that the mobile version likely will not support modding, whereas the Steam version is getting workshop support in the near future.
So if you just want to play Sentinels of The Multiverse vanilla, mobile is definitely the way to do it!
But if you want to add Cauldron, Union City, or any of other hundreds of modded decks, then you will need to get the steam version and wait for workshop support.

This game is so good, that I bought a nintendo switch just so I could play this game everywhere I go. And when I convinced my friend to try this game, the following week he went out and bought a nintendo switch just so he could play it everywhere he went. This game is just THAT GOOD!
