Despite my deepest desire to find an mmo I could actually enjoy, after playing ESO I decided that even the greatest, no subscription required MMO is still an MMO. And even if I dont pay for a subscription, I still dont want to spend my time playing an MMO in 2019.

If you like MMOs you might like it.

9/10 ! NRS , & the people at QLOC have been working hard to ensure the MK11 PC port is the best game they can give us. (I just stopped in to edit this review because on May 24th they patched in an option to make menus, the krypt, fatalities, brutalities, and krushing blows etc etc run at 60fps like the rest of the gameplay! Amazing! I kind of want to give the game 10/10 now).

Positives=
-Fantastic tutorial system (if youre unfamiliar with fighting games the tutorials will take you from scrub to special move cancelling hero).

-Great visual variety with the alternate color themes, each character has several skins and tens of recolors of those skins, plus tons of hats, masks & weapons etc. If you play the towers of time for hours you really appreciate having that variety so youre not looking at identical images all day.

-Towers of Time are a great way to PVE for rewards & cosmetics. Ive had a lot of fun learning all the different effects I can encounter in ToT & learning what change in play style is needed to beat it, or which konsumables I need to use.

-Story mode is very entertaining, & not too short, its average time to finish is 8 hours, but ToT is what keeps you coming back. I love figuring out the ToT meta game while I get good at the game & learn some characters so I can go into pvp more confidently.

-The multiple currencies and the krypt are not issues, they are easy to get, and fun to use while you explore and discover secrets in the krypt. Initial comments about them were knee jerk reactions from youtubers looking for the next controversy. NRS has always hidden stuff in their games for fans to discover, there are ways you can find particular unlockables without random chance, just look on reddit. And the only thing real $ can do is buy cosmetics from the shop. And the items in the shop rotate daily. And you get that currency to use in the shop for free while playing. Its only 'grindy' if you want EVERYTHING, & theres so much damn cool stuff that if you actually play the game youre swimming in cool items, just not every single cool item in the game, which you wont need..

-NRS and Qloc have been patching the game for consoles and PC to improve known issues, and theres been communication over discord & steam forums consistently to inform the community about timeframes, & what to expect. The level of communication gives confidence that updates & bug fixes should continue to come.

Negatives=

-At launch anti-aliasing was giving me all kinds of jagged edges and muddy textures. But patch notes since launch say thats being seen too. Jagged edges are gone, textures are crisp. There are some other minor visual issues that came up after that patch but I expect they are known & being worked on too.

-Towers of time had a steep difficulty curve at launch, because new players have so few konsumables, and during the first days nobody knows that there are items which will directly counter the hostile effect added to the fight, or that you can use items to heal damage to even up the fight against enemies with extra health. Balance changes have made Towers fairy tame and easy to handle. Plus I've stocked up enough konsumables to get through anything in towers of time. Some towers have a Brutal difficulty you can unlock, so there is some challenging pve if you look for it, but the daily towers of time are fairly easy.

- 30fps cutscenes and krypt ... *Edit** USED to be a problem. But less than 3 hours ago they patched in a 60fps option for the krypt, menus, character intros, krushing blows, fatal blows, and brutalities. Its fantastic. I never thought I'd see it but 30fps isnt a complaint of mine anymore XD
