Crashes immediately upon alt-tabbing, crashing immediately upon clicking sometimes, the cutscenes are somehow missing graphics (the opening USA cutscene has an invisible mountain!!!), and they haven't bothered to get widescreen working out of the box. I'm really excited to have the collection here but they're all in such a bad state with issues I've literally never encountered before on the original releases so I genuinely have no idea how this has happened.

I'd really love to see them improve but I'd be lying to say I'm not a bit disappointed with how they are out of the box. C&C fans especially are definitely quite familiar with a high level of fiddling around with the game to get it working in on modern machines but to have to do that for a 2024 re-release seems a bit ridiculous - you'd expect them to *work* at least, maybe throw in some cool extras (like out-of-the-box widescreen), not the end of the world not to have but at least have the game function!

I've had a great time with WYS so far. I've had my ups and downs, some parts do feel a bit unfair or make me question the level order (or my sanity), especially on Easy. Despite this I'd say the puzzles are the hardest part since you can always have another go on the regular levels and hope this time the RNG gods smile upon you, or more likely that you take a break and come back later to beat a level 1st try that you spent 20 minutes on earlier without success. The feeling of achievement there is fantastic, even on repeat playthroughs.
The puzzles however are definitely not for me; when beating them finally (sometimes needing a guide), I end up thinking "well how was I meant to know that?"!
While I'm sure there are plenty of people who have had a total opposite experience to me, and get the same enjoyment I get from beating the regular levels with puzzles, they're definitely the weak point to me. Maybe I'm just stupid, I dunno.
The structure of this review is totally non-existent so now I'll talk about speedrunning. This is the first game I've ever played that's ever really interested me with speedrunning it. It is a very fun and rewarding experience to beat your personal best, and if you do an alright job, you'll get an achievement for your efforts. (Sidenote: the achievements in this game are fair and rewarding, I've just got the 0 deaths one to go which is probably the hardest one).
Did I forget to mention the music? This game has an amazing soundtrack, which I've happily listened to many hundreds of times, maybe even thousands at this point. You'll die a lot in this game, especially on your first playthrough. Even after hearing the same song for the 50th time, you don't get bored of it. They loop great, and act as nice background noise to help keep your cool. (Squid also helps with that, there are so many lines in this game it'll take a while before you hear the same one twice, so it begs for exploration, or merely just playing the game more to hear more dialog.)
On a sidenote, if you enjoy playing mods, or like to mod games yourself (or are interested in doing so), this is a great game for it. the [sandbox] branch in the betas tab allows you to use a tool called Undertale Mod Tool (since this is a gamemaker game, (also probably the most beautiful one I've seen at that) you can use UMT to decompile it) to read the source code, and make whatever changes you'd like. I've seen some very creative things come out of the modding community so far, and had quite a lot of fun with it. Modding support is a fantastic way to extend the lifetime of a game, and that's certainly the case here.

TL;DR: This is a fantastic game. If you don't have it already, give it a go! Even if you have trouble with it, it is very rewarding to play, and very replayable.
Yes, I'm biased. Just pointing that out.

This OST manages to still sound incredible even after hearing the same song for the 80th time or happily more than that. That's a feat.

fantastic piece of software, I've used gm:s 1.4 for a long time and jumping to this has been a great experience and I intend to use this many years into the future.

This might be the best game I have ever played.
Each community server has its own "gimmick", making it unique from the others. I've only played a few so far, but, my god is this game incredible. Everything just feels... Right. I thought that the level of enjoyment I used to get from games when I was younger was just something I couldn't feel anymore, but this reignited something, and the past two hours have been some of the most fun I've had in years. Do yourself a favour, if you like FPS games, or just minigames, anything like that, get this game. It's not all about shooting and violence. There's a real sense of community here and I love it.
