Originally bought this because of the free CS:GO Music Kit,

Turned out to be one of the best games I've played in the last decades unironically.

It somehow made the concept of dying and respawning canon to the story.
Also f*ck Hypnos and his sarcastic/passive aggressive remarks. I get it I died no need to rub it in ( ﹷ ‸ ﹷ )

This game is so good, it made my laptop talk human words.

Good game. Plagued by RNG. Spend millions on upgrading your weapon but it only has a 50/50 chance of going up.

After finishing all four, Claire A/B and Leon A/B in Rank S I can say

There's enough praise out there so let me point out the negatives, HEAVY SPOILERS AHEAD.

There is almost no difference between the A and B scenario.
Claire A is the same as Claire B, just a few different solutions and the way she enters the police station is different.
The same is true with Leon.

The plot also makes no sense, Claire and Leon's playthrough are almost EXACTLY the same after Ada/Sherry's part regardless if you're playing the 1st or 2nd run. They almost never run into each other. When you play either one, the doors will still be locked for the other character. The puzzles will still be unsolved.

You always ask yourself "How tf did character A make it through when everything is still locked?". This giant plot hole is very obvious because they recycled the same linear game for both characters without making a proper 2nd scenario. A LOT of the game makes it impossible to believe there were 2 people trying to escape at the same time, which makes the ending very weak.

Annette dies in different places for Claire and Leon, which makes you go "HUH? So which storyline is accurate?" because her death is tied to their escape. Annette dies in the NORTH Area and Claire gets the wristband to go to the final elevator. When she gets to the train she gets a video chat from Leon. When you play through Leon, Annette dies in the WEST AREA just before he goes through the elevator. When he gets to the bottom, he gets the video call from Claire, implying Claire was ahead by a few minutes. So if Annette died a few minutes earlier to give Claire access to the elevator, how tf was Annette alive long enough to shoot Ada and drop dead BEFORE Leon goes to the elevator, a few minutes AFTER Claire goes down. THE STORY IS A MESS.

In the 1998 Playstation original, Claire and Leon go through very different paths and do not encounter the same bosses. It makes it believable that in the classic RE2, 2 people were trying to escape at the same time and they did not encounter each other because they took different routes.(EXAMPLE: Player A uses the platform to go to Umbrella Lab and fights Birkin with one transformed arm, Scenario B has to go to a different control panel to call the platform back up because Player A used it to go underground. On the way down, Player B runs into Birkin with 2 transformed arms) The 1998 version made it believable that Player A was present a few minutes ahead of Player B.

This REmake however only had Ada/Sherry's part different. Both Leon and Claire encounter the same bosses, with the exception of Leon doing the Alligator boss which is very minor. Every other boss fight is recycled between them, except the "final bosses" of each route.

I give this game a 7/10. It's very enjoyable. The gunplay is tight.

However the lack of variety between Claire and Leon AND the 1st and 2nd run is really a letdown, considering RE2 1998 executed 2 characters going different routes perfectly.

There needs to be a new mechanic of some sort. Spy drones, turrets, landmines.

After playing on and off for months its the same cycle. New gun, new map, same gameplay, just master a new recoil and youre set.

it gets old real quick.

It's a well rounded survival game that has a lot beneath the surface.

The game was already gives more than the price they're asking for it, the 3 FREE DLCs makes me wonder what I did to deserve such a gift from the devs.
