Rimworld(settlement management), meets mount and blade(combat, leading troops), in a survival crafting world with elder scrolls/fallout style RPG elements.

This game is definitely not finished yet, but whats here is REALLY solid. This is based on my first and only time playing with 1 friend, but we are definitely coming back for more as soon as our schedules align.

City/settlement building is simple and if youve ever played Rimworld, youll feel right at home getting NPC's set up to run everything smoothly. For those not familiar, you dont assign your NPC's specific jobs unless you want to, you can simply lay out buildings and set up queues for items to be made, and after you recruit and assign them as workers NPC's will automatically try to produce them as long as you have the materials, and if you dont theyll harvest basic materials as needed to get everything going. You just need to command them to make advanced materials yourself for more advanced products(armor, higher end weapons and tools). Unlike rimworld, not optimizing your NPC's WONT get you killed or be super detrimental, they run on auto pilot pretty well, including making their own cooked food so long as they have the materials. If youre not familiar with the game Rimworld, do NOT worry at all, as you dont have to be to figure out the NPC helper system.

Combat is mount and blade style, direction controls to decide what side to block, swing from, etc. This allows you to swing past blocks if youre quick enough and swing from the direction the NPC isnt blocking. Same for follower combat, they just do their own thing like in M&B, you just have basic commands like "attack this, go here, follow me", etc, but its nice to have NPC helpers in a survival crafting game like this for fights. The system isnt super complicated.

There are basic fetch, kill quests, crafting quests, etc in the game to keep you busy for each preexisting settlement. Nothing great, but also not bad atm either.

The map is also premade it seems, no random gen here(which could make future playthroughs not quite as enjoyable or interesting), but from the small amount weve explored so far looks pretty and well crafted(in 8 hours we might have seen 1/10th the map, including 2 of the towns, though to be fair we also didnt expand out super far afield once we started settlement building).

The RPG system is a bit bethesda-y, you gain experience as you do different actions like shoot bows, gather materials, block with a shield, etc, your experience will go up and youll level up that ability, which will give you bonuses like chances to gather extra items, or for combat it will have you hit harder/faster. Its a very slow system, but it doesnt feel glacier slow, and Im happy it doesnt have you feeling like some superhero within a few hours.

If the devs can just flesh out city building to have more advanced options, fix pathfinding just a little bit(its not horrible, you just need to make sure to give space around anything you place so NPC's dont get stuck on corners), expand the quest system, add more interesting POIs, and just keep fleshing out combat, this game will be a huge achievement.

First time session myself and one friend went 8 hours straight.

If any of that sounds interesting, I recommend you give this a shot.

If you want to satisfy that diablo itch, and not play the crappy new diablos, this is your game.

If you want to play a game with massive class building depth, but dont have time for POE, this is your game.

If you like to run around in an RPG and collect loot, this is your game.

Half life, online multiplayer coop, and survival crafting had a rager of a party. Theyre not sure what happened that night, but now the resulting offspring is alive and well, and ready for you to enjoy.

This game is fantastic, and if you look past the admittedly not stellar graphics, the rest of it is well rounded and thought out.

Great atmosphere, good storytelling, decent combat, good exploration, and a great survival/crafting coop system.

If youre a fan of the half life games, this universe will feel very familiar. If youve enjoyed survival crafting games like rust, valheim, 7 days to die, youll enjoy this gameplay experience(though this one is quite a bit more story driven).

If youre even slightly interested, please give this game a chance. Make sure to bring a friend or two, because as always these style of games are better with friends.

Its a wave shooter in the same category as vampire survivors. If you like that, youll probably like this, and vice versa.

Its simple and fun, but has so many combinations and playstyle options that its very hard to get bored, even when it constantly kicks your butt.

Its heroes of might and magic, but auto-battler for units instead of turn based and controlled. I dislike that aspect personally, but other than that its a solid game.

This game was already worth the price when there was only one planet available.

The dev has continued to update the game and has now almost doubled the content(adding a totally new second campaign), when honestly they could have justified selling it as a second game.

If you want tower defense, mixed with factorio like base building, absolutely give this game a shot.

Another great DLC, from a great dev. Powerful new ships for an alternative playthrough.
