More consistently destroyable architecture would be nice, but at least they added bots.

Might not be Distant Worlds but this doesn't make it a bad game in my honest opinion.

Took literally 300 hours to learn how to play but you'll get there. It's an onion of a game with an almost vertical learning curve, unexpected depth and delayed gratification.

Takes about 50 hours to get in to it but it really starts paying off once you've got enough money to buy some decent ships with some decent upgrades. Ground combat is a great way to make money (High Intensity) if you haven't got enough to buy any good ships yet.

Strangely compelling and frustratingly addictive.

Early Access Review
Don't believe the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ the games servers still run fine and there are plenty of players. Never crashed on me so not sure what people are complaining about with it being "abandoned" - there's no bugs so what's the problem?

Most definitely a surprising plus however: Lag barely even an issue in New Zealand.

GTA 5 is flawless.

GTA Online, at least from a game play and content perspective, would be a solid yes.

If not for what I'm about to explain, I would have recommended GTA 5, so if you only ever intend to play single player, or consider single player alone to be worth the cost, then I'd buy now. Otherwise and especially if you're primary interest is GTA Online, read on:

The "No" is because GTA Online is very difficult to enjoy and in a very objective way. Rockstar have utterly failed to protect its customers from hackers in any noticeable way.

Remember that GTA Online is a service, which we depend on Rockstar to provide, but its a service you pay for in advance when you purchase GTA 5.

In all multiplayer games there will be cheating. And if the service was good enough to at least be feared by cheaters then I'd have given it a yes, but its so much worse then that, its so bad that cheaters have just no shame, they don't even make the slightest effort to disguise it or put up any pretence they're not cheating - both examples below, which just happen to be my last two sessions, could never be explained in any other way and both examples were accompanied by the usual troll dribble that cheaters seem to think is funny. It definitely takes a long period of ineffectiveness for cheating to become that bad and that blatant. It has been so many years and it just seems ridiculous to believe RockStar are suddenly going to start investing in a solution, and I must make a recommendation on its current state.

Latest Examples

Here is what you can expect from GTA Online. These are the last two sessions I tried to play:

Session 1
1.1 Get my car from insurance from the last time a hacker blew it up
1.2 Get in car
1.3 Start driving
1.4 Oh ♥♥♥♥ there's a red dot in front of me on the map (you have to look at the map at all times because hackers can just pop up out of nowhere)
1.5 So I turn around, red means the person is likely to kill me
1.6 Suddenly the red dot reappears in front of me even though I'm now driving in the opposite direction (still looking at the map)
1.7 A hacker, in GTA Online no-less, oh! how original!
1.8 Dumb thought triggered: maybe once he's blown my personal car up he'll get bored and leave me alone...
It was after he blew up my next personal car I knew I'd been lying to myself when I thought there was a chance he'd get bored and leave me alone
Session 2
2.1Get my car from insurance from the last time a hacker blew it up
2.2 Start walking toward where my mechanic leaves it
2.3 Boom
2.4 I'm dead
2.5 RespawnBoom
2.6 I'm dead,
2.7 ResBoom
2.8 I'm Dead
2.9 ResBoom I'mDead
3.0 ResBomDed, ReBoDe,
3.1 ReBoDeReBoDeReBoDeReBoDeReBoDeReBoDeReBoDeReBoDe
3.2 [Alt]+[F4]
3.3 angrily write this ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ review.

RockStar you greedy megacorporate
Well then fix it or start giving legitimate customers a way to defend themselves against these punks!!! Spend some of the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ BILLIONS you earn from selling all the fake money for real money.

It's common business sense, if you can get the same thing for less, why would you pay for it? If you can get the same thing for free, then the only question is how can I get it for free.
