A worthy successor to F.E.A.R and definitely a better game then both of its sequels, & probably one of the better shooters I’ve played in recent memory.

It Divots in some areas, mainly level design and storytelling. With stages going from tighter smaller areas which accentuate the fast, frantic gunplay & set-pieces, to some painfully barren areas which blemish the otherwise exceptional gameplay.

The story is also woefully goofy, comparable to resident evil but without the self awareness and general campiness, It also tries a little too hard to be funny & cool with some bad ‘laugh now’ moments, and many edge lord ‘let’s see many times I can say f*** in a sentence’ which pulled me out of it bit, along with far too much tactical mumbo-jumbo talk which I personally, absolutely despise.

F.E.A.Rs story is by no means Oscar material, but through how it is told, the atmosphere and most importantly consistent tone & charm, it’s still infinitely more memorable & interesting.

F.E.A.R imo will always be the better of the two, but it’s worth all the merit it’s getting.

an insanely fun game which replicates and enhances the gameplay loop tried and tested only once, many many years ago.

Play the demo, ♥♥♥♥ speaks for itself.

Besides fatsharks predatory monetisation, missing features, terrible optimisation & design choices, the game is obviously handled with a deep deep love of it's setting and gameplay loop. For which they always handle superbly. It can't top VT2 for the best dopamine injector, but it will one day

wait a year, then grab it.

I'm amazed how a few developers & a price tag of $7 can completely outweigh and undermine larger development teams and massive budgets. This game is insane, clearly heavily inspired by the early Resident Evil series, whilst still cementing its own identity. Truly very inspiring, and more concise evidence that indie developers are the only ones pushing the medium.

Keen to see the developers next move, hopefully a sequel.

the pathfinding for the AI is absolutely horrendous, entire formations changing on a whim, and units not listening to any command you give them. utterly broken and unplayable

i had an entire group of Velites decide that instead of taking two steps back to reposition, they would walk at a snails pace through the entire enemy frontline to then single file backstep all the way back out again whilst being absolutely demolished, eventually routing before they could throw a single javelin. And unfortunately this is the case with every single unit.

egregiously annoying
