Don't get it twisted "anti-woke" crowd I am NOT on your side lmao

I just hate the bizarre modern-ish writing, the MCU-like humor and the way my character looks. Why can't I serve tall amazon? My Rook looks like she's short but scaled up. I HATE the proportions.

Game's super pretty and the combat is fine though a bit repetitive, but my god is everything else all over the place.

I've been obsessed with Bayonetta ever since I saw the trailers in 2010ish, give or take. I always loved witchy things and action games, and as such Bayonetta automatically hit the spot, as I was familiar with Devil May Cry before.

Honestly, it's a game that's close to my heart, but despite the love I feel for it, it's far from a perfect game. I recommend it because it's Bayonetta. But if the prospect of a feminine, extremely high camp main character who oozes style and owns their sexuality isn't enough to reel you in, maybe the combat will. Otherwise, maybe this game isn't for you.

Initially I played it on the Xbox 360, and I can safely say that this is a superior port with a more stable framerate with none of the FPS dips.

Pros:
- I mean it's ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ Bayonetta!
- Platinum Games action.
- So many fun combat mechanics such as dodge offsetting and juggling.
- The music and sound design.
- Mari Shimazaki's stellar character design.
- Creative art direction, unique and diverse weapons, accessories based on different mythos.
- Character models and textures honestly hold up to today's standards.
- It's not Bayonetta 2.
- Jeanne!!

Cons:
- QTEs.
- Dated level design.
- Reused levels with environmental damage peppered in sometimes, just to make them more annoying.
- Isla Del Sol. I cannot put into words how much I despise the missile sequence.
- Really dusty, poopy palette all around. It feels like there's a brown filter over everything.

Early Access Review
Idk what to say other than it's a fun game! Some wonky physics here and there and the game is kind of unforgiving at times but it's in beta

It's okay. It still suffers from "I'm an indie game" syndrome, heavily so, but deep down it's actually quite fun. It's a shame that it was basically abandoned save for the Switch port which brought... Exactly nothing new to the table, save for some character skins (which I'd like on PC please??). If you like RWBY and enjoy endless waves of enemies, Horde Mode could be fun for you.

The only saving grace here is the combat, but the cookie cutter characters and cliché archetypes really ruin it for me. Locations are boring and repetitive (and you revisit them ALOT, I assume with both characters) and one of the late game dungeons just honestly exhausted me as it was ugly with patterned repeated meshes and models reused all across the board, as well as extremely long hallways and areas. It's okay, but it's no 60 dollar game.

One of my fave games of all time. Pretty much shaped me as a person, at the risk of sounding sappy lmao. It's buggy and not perfect, the graphics are dated, and the gameplay is nothing to write home about, but the music and atmosphere more than make up for it all and the overall experience is stellar. Just thinking about jumping back into Tamriel makes my heart flutter. <3
