Is this the worst game in the Dragon Age series? Yes.
Is it worth the current price? No.
Is it a bad game? No.

Even if most come with backhanded flaws, the game still has a lot of good points to it:

This is another installment in the Dragon Age series, so as always expect great lore and a great and diverse cast of well fleshed out characters full of personality and traits that will make you feel really attached to their personalities and personal struggles. Saying goodbye to them when the story is over is bittersweet. (not u, sebastian)

The story this time around is really self contained, limiting itself to a single city state, instead of revolving around a whole kingdom and exploring many cultures like Origins did. It is a tale told by one of your companions and divided into three acts. The prelude begins during the events of Origins and Act III ends over 10 years later.
Overall, the acts are well defined and have their purposes, but I find some of the story telling really questionable. Knowing you'll be the Champion from the beginning makes it less interesting and actually earning the title in-game is lackluster.

A very welcome and nice addition is that you can import your save from Origins into this game, meaning the choices you made back in the first game will affect the world of DA2. Conversely, the choices you make in this game can be imported into Dragon Age Inquisition through the DA Keep, this feature alone makes it worth playing through for fans of the series who wish to shape the world with their own decisions.

The voiced protagonist is a nice addition, although they had to oversimplify the dialogue choices, paraphrasing and reducing them to "calm response, funny response, angry response". It feels dumbed down and really unresponsive. Very frequently the voiced response is not at all what was written in the dialogue option.
Still, it makes Hawke a really likeable protagonist and helps the interactions with other characters, even if he is limited to being a human. I miss my elven characters.

Kirkwall is full of personality and charm, although most of the interior maps are recycled over and over. You will see the same warehouse and same caves over and over, albeit with a bit of makeup. It's distracting.

The combat is now really fast paced, sacrificing the tactics based slow paced combat of Origins for a hack'n'slash experience. It would be enjoyable, if not for the wave system. You can't plan ahead when the game keeps spawning more enemies that come out of nowhere. To me, this is the hardest game in the series and one I was never able to play on harder difficulties. It is difficult enough trying to enjoy this game.

This game also introduced a lot of the new designs that give the Dragon Age world just that much charm:

Elves now have distinct phisiology and face structure, instead of just being pointy eared and shorter humans.
Qunari are now really relevant to the story and have been given draconic/ox features, instead of being taller and uglier pointy ear-ish humans (still love u Sten) and have been given new equipment to match their foreigncy.
The Grey Wardens now actually have distinct and iconic equipment, Templars have been given a makeover in their armor to be more distinct and overall the variation really helps with keeping the game fresh and diverse.

Oh, you can only play this by syncing with EA Desktop, which is as bad as Origin was. Truly a shame.
Dear developers: if you want people to actually spend on your sorry excuse for a platform, at least make it enjoyable. Add community features, actual profiles with customization. Make us actually want to own an account and spend time on it. As it is, everyone hates having to download an extra app and sign up to play a game or two.

Rant over.

Overall, Dragon Age 2 is still a good game, even if only because it is part of the Dragon Age series.
Does that mean only people who have previously played a DA game will enjoy it? Definitely not, but is a niche game and I wouldn't recommend it to a casual player simply looking for fun.

It is ABSOLUTELY NOT worth buying it at full price. The content does not justify it. Not in quantity and not in quality.
But at a nice sale with a big discount? I'd say you'll have fun with it and won't regret the bucks spent.

I'd like to start my review differently this time. First of all:
GRAB THE 4GB PATCH. IT WILL SOLVE MOST OF YOUR CRASHES! -> https://www.nexusmods.com/dragonage/mods/5368

Now, as for the game itself:

It is an old game. Even at its release it was technically limited in both graphics, performance, and gameplay.
In spite of it all, I am still left stunned beyond words by just how great Dragon Age: Origins is.

If you know anything about Bioware games, you'll know that what truly sells them is the cast of characters. DAO is no different. You become truly invested in these fictional characters and their stories and struggles, and as your connection to them deepens, so does their connection to you.
(Granted you can cheese the approval system with gifts)
(pls don't do that btw)

I won't spoil anything about the story, as I believe it is best experienced going blind. Just know that it's good. Really good.
It will take you accross abandoned underground roads of a fallen empire inhabited by a tainted race of mindless creatures (or are they? Play Awakening and find out!), forests filled with cursed beasts and rhyming trees, cities and prisons of men. There is no lacking variety for DAO's maps.

The lore is magnific. When you start exploring and learning about it, there is no turning back.
It takes RPG standards like elves and dwarves and gives them its own spin, making Dragon Age a truly unique gem.

I won't tell you this game has no flaws. It has many. A LOT. I spent a lot of time fixing a lot of stuff in my own modlist, from bad graphics fidelity to poor designs; of both characters, models and items.
No matter how much you try to optimize it, there's no running away from its memory leak and occasional crashes. You get used to the leak and learn to avoid the crashes, though.

If you're a fan of roleplaying open world-ish games with great characters and lore, DA Origins is a game you will most likely adore, and one of my favorite games of all time.

First off, this game isn't "bad" by any standards other than my own. You will read many other reviews recommending it and most have very fair points. There's a lot of good in it, but I cannot bring myself to give it a positive review simply because the bad is truly bad and completely ruins the experience for me.

I cannot bring myself to finish AC Odyssey, let alone recommend it at full price to anyone.

Let me begin by stating the good:

The graphics look breathtaking. Ancient Greece is beautiful. The cities, the islands, the ocean. All of it.
The combat is fun, exploration is very fun: featuring parkour, horse riding and a ship for naval exploration and combat...aaaand a big ass map.

The story is actually quite interesting. The characters have a lot of personality and their performances are mostly pretty good. The quality of the dialogue fluctuates but if you don't take it very seriously you will have a good time.
Also, they added some dialogue options with actual consequences on quests and characters, and it's mostly pretty good. It adds replayability to Odyssey.

And here I begin to draw the line on the bad:

I know this is old news, but this game is big. Too big for its own good.
The map feels bloated with loads of nothing and at the same time with just too many inconsequential things to do.
You will constantly find yourself just going from one point to another mindlessly due to the sheer size of it and the lack of interesting stuff in between. Excluding, of course, the occasional bandit camp and predator attack, which get old really fast.

Despite the story being interesting, it is simply far too diluted in the endless cycle of questing for levels. You will find yourself stuck and wasting hours on hours on grinding to level up and be able to go back to the main quests.

Also, I get the whole RPG gist but, imo, adding inconsequential dialogue options to this game was NOT the way to go.
The paraphrasing on the options is really bad and the inconsistency of the protagonist just makes it harder for them to feel..deep. I really loved Bayek on the previous installment, but I have to say that after hundreds of hours on Odyssey, I do not care for the Misthios at all.

Tl;dr:
If you're looking for a fun game with a vast world with lots of stuff and don't care about questionable quality on dialogue writing and quests, this is a pretty good game to throw in a few hundred hours.
If you're looking for a deep roleplaying game with quality storywriting and quests that values your time, Odyssey is not it.

What is Sekiro? Another installment on From Software's take of action RPGs, which inspired the "soulslike" genre most of us are familiar with.

Is it any good? ♥♥♥♥ yeah. It's a work of art.

Set in ancient Japan, you take the role of a shinobi walking the path of serving his master. With many twists along the way, your journey culminates into four different endings. The art direction is excellent and the game looks majestic.

The combat is extremely satisfying and, like Bloodborne previously did, sets itself apart from the rest of the series. This time around, it has a heavy focus on deflecting instead of dodging and rewards precise and quick attacks.
To me it was certainly a new difficulty milestone. It takes a while to get used to the new combat, even as a From veteran, I got my ass kicked. Hard. The secret to not getting your ass handed to you? Git gud.

One downside to it is that customization is very limited. Other than an arsenal of skills and tools to choose from, you can't customize your character (until you unlock the outfits system post your first playthrough, which is still limited to 4) and you can't switch weapons. You're stuck with a katana. It certainly makes Sekiro the least replayable out of all of From's action RPGs.
It also lacks the series' featured jolly online cooperation. Making it even less replayable.

Overrall, very solid game. Great mechanics, great combat, beautiful art and sound design. Definitely worth it on a discount.

Pros: Rome looks stunning
Cons: We're not in Rome through most of the game.

Seriously now, the game is good.

Absurdly beautiful, specially for a 2013 game. The combat is brutal, fun, fast and keeps you engaged.

The story is...ludacrous to say the least and I don't get why they included gods and stuff since it serves no purpose whatsover besides skipping on actual character development...seems like lazy writing to me. But there are good characters that make it engaging and as such it does not drag on.

Also, for you diehard Rome fans like me, do note the game takes on a few freedoms when it comes to designs of equipments, banners, clothes and even the roman insignia. It tries to modernize them so it sits better with modern audiences but it just looks cringy to me.

Beware PC master racers this game is an Xbox original release and badly ported so you'll likely be unable to run it at stable framerates. There is a community guide for performance tweaks you should check out.

Other than that it's a pretty short game but packed with fun. Definitely worth it on sale.

I love the Assassin's Creed franchise and play it religiously, but after Syndicate I was honestly scared for its future. That game had the most hideous story I had the displeasure of playing in an AC game. Bad writing, bad characters, everything was shallow and uninteresting. It was an all-time low.
But this...

This is insanely good. Story. Characters. Setting. Gameplay.

They revamped the formula of the AC games. It is still the open world parkour game we know and love, but now it has a twist: It's now more gameplay-focused, instead of being cinematic. it also has many new RPG elements.
It's still similar enough that old players of the franchise will still like and different enough so that people who previously didn't enjoy the AC series may like this one.

Now to talk about a few things worth noting:

The map! The world of AC Origins, which is mainly Egypt in the end of the Ptolomaic line, with a few bits of Rome and later on egyptian afterlives, is insanely large, detailed and beautiful. Breathtaking, to say the least.

♥♥♥♥ ton of side quests! They bring depth to the giant world AC Origins offer, but the writing and acting is not always on point. A lot of times they are boring and outright abnoxious. I also don't get how Ubisoft thought it was a good idea to add characters from side quests into the main quest later on without requiring the player to complete them. (Where did Tahira come from if I didn't complete her quest????)

Leveling! We had leveling in the AC series since Unity, but this game takes that beyond. Where we had up to 10 levels in previous games we now have 55 ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ levels (with the CotP DLC) with a lot of skills to earn. I like leveling systems. They make me feel like I'm actually progressing though a game and becoming stronger, but this also amounts to the farming issue.

Difficulty! You can now choose now just how tough the enemies will be, ranging from "slap me and i be dead" to "god himself may smite me and i shall still stand." That being said I played through Nightmare a few times and the only difficulty I had was with the last two bosses, which I was able to handle eventually, and the Curse of the Pharaohs DLC bosses. These ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ suck. I turned down the difficulty for a couple of them cause I was at max level, max damage possible and yet dealt no damage at all while getting hitkilled.

Damage calculation! Yep, you can no longer just insta kill anyone with your hidden blade. That now takes into consideration your level, difficulty and hidden blade upgrade (which is interesting but also means you have to farm for levels which may be boring to some people.

Now, for the cherry on top of all of my cakes: the story:

I love this game's story. Why? Because I love the characters. I love Bayek, I love Aya, I love Phanos... the list continues. The characters bring me back to AC 2 and 4's level of development and depth. Seeing Bayek shedding his scales of vengeance to live by a new creed is excellent and seeing the culmination of that at the Hidden Ones DLC is just...beautiful.

Do I recommend this game to you? If you have a good PC, enjoy open world games with a few dozen hours of content to explore, good gameplay and loveable characters, then YES!

Even if you previously did not like the AC series, try this. Maybe you'll enjoy this one

if you don't no refunds from me >:)

This is Skyrim. Is there more to say about it? It's nothing short of a legendary game, viewed by a lot of people as one of the best games ever made. Even if I don't agree with it, I got to give props to this game for being...unique.

The exploration factor in this game is amazing. The world is great to explore and the ambience is insanely good. The soundtracks...oh boy.

It has at the very least a few hundred hours worth of content. How they managed to get so much in a 12gb game is still beyond me, but it just works.

You WILL love this game at first, and then start to see its flaws with time. But the time you enjoy is...unexplainable. I have no words for what I felt when playing this for the first time on my Xbox 360. These are fund memories I will keep for the rest of my life. The nostalgia alone makes me keep coming back to this game, despite only ever modding it and leaving it.

There is no other way to define this game if not legendary. Funny, considering this is the Special Edition, right? Oh, and about that: This is the "new gen" 64bits version. Looks a lot nicer and is a lot more stable, but it also demands a lot more power than the Legendary Edition. If you got an old PC just grab the LE instead. It's still on Steam, just hidden from the search. If you're a new player, got a nice computer and are just looking for "that" game, the one from your dreams...I believe this will be it. If not, you're either a more relaxed player, in which case I would recommend Stardew Valley or Terraria, or a more gameplay focused player, in which case I'd recommend Dark Souls or Dragon's Dogma.

Maybe not worth full price, but everyone should play this game at least once in their life.

If you're a Morrowind player, this will still be a pretty good experience, although streamlined.
If you're a Skyrim player or a new RPG player in general, you're gonna need to get used to some old school mechanics, like the class system. Don't be afraid to give this game a shot however. It is truly a gem.

How does Oblivion hold up in 2021? The game itself is amazing. The story. The characters. The setting. The atmosphere. All of that is top tier. And far superior to its successor. However...
In terms of technical and graphical matters it is pretty dated. But it is also a Bethesda game, so there are a wide array of mods to help these downsides. That being said, Oblivion does not need a quarter of the mods Skyrim generally requires to be 100%.

Look up Bevillex's guide and take what you find is plausible. Don't get too carried away with that guide.
I recommend you follow the prerequisites and install the entire stability section, grab Oblivion Reloaded Lite + Simple ENB and Bevillex's Preset (if you have a decent rig that is). Grab the Unofficial Patches, AI Upscaled Textures + Normal Maps Retextured and Darnified UI. That's it. You're good to go.

It's been a few years since I last played it. Decided to reinstall recently to have another run and decided to share with you guys my view on this beautiful and amazing game. Truly a gem. Truly a top tier game that definitely left its mark on the lives of many people. Do yourself a favor and play this. You won't regret it.

Ps: No guarantees! Don't come asking me for refunds later lol
