A prime example of why publishers should not have the ability to remotely disable keys on Steam without first being required to negotiate the action through Valve.

Keys are generated at a point dictated entirely by the publisher. When "fraudulent" keys exist, they are a byproduct of ineptitude from unsecured sales, be it through an underdeveloped storefront that is susceptible to high-volume credit card fraud or bulk sales to redistributors of questionable authenticity. The ability to deactivate keys only pushes the assumed risk of these dealings on to the end user instead of the publisher that should have weighed the costs of their chosen method of sale against their desire for whatever percentage they might lose by selling through a reputable distributor that handles its own losses to digital shrinkage.

That the revocation of these keys was an alleged mistake only shows how poorly implemented the function is. Hanlon's razor only serves as a potential explanation, never an excusal.

Bungie has often put on a firm display of their strengths as a developer with the storied content of their games. Enough so that I have long held interest in returning to play through the rest of Destiny 2's older campaigns when the opportunity arose. Unfortunately, it has recently been met with the harsh reality of a deadline imposed on doing so due to their impending removal and the futility of starting something that I would have to haphazardly rush my way through to avoid the risk of not being able to finish. Now that content is gone, lost to mismanaged patchwork and poor attempts to reshape the game's singleplayer experience using lopsided metrics. This is no longer a game for anyone seeking solo or PVE gameplay, and the inability to revisit even purchased content of that nature has yielded a very real chilling effect on the prospect of buying anything Bungie releases going forward. Whether this game will ever be worth playing again, for me, relies entirely on Bungie walking back their decision to cut such a large amount of content from the game. Until then, Destiny 2 is little more than a casket holding the partial remains of what was previously an interesting game.
