Early Access Review
TL;DR: Vault of the Void is not a Slay the Spire clone. It's a unique take on the roguelike deckbuilding genre, easy to grasp and difficult to master, and I enjoy it more than the other titles. The content/price ratio is amazing, you will not regret the purchase!

I'm a card game enthusiast. I try every single card game that I can put my hands on and over time I grew desensitized to novelty. Slay the Spire was a revolution for me, merging the deckbuilding (the most fun part of every card game) with roguelike mechanics (the titles I love the most) gave birth to a new genre that brought a bunch of clones with it.
On Steam there's plenty of StS clones that aim to be a "more of the same" but in the end they add so little that I never see the reason to play them instead of the original.
After many hours of StS however, I felt that there could be more to build on top of the core structure and there comes Vault of the Void.
The game takes just the basic idea, build your deck going from fight to fight, and adds a new level of complexity to it:

- The map shows you in advance the card that you're going to get by winning the fight, opening the possibility to plan the whole deck before the endgame
- You can plan your route beforehand by marking certain tiles on the map, or at least the ones that have a card that you really want
- The deck MUST contain 20 cards total but gives you the possibility to thin the deck during the fight with the "Sift" mechanic. You can organize your deck before getting into a fight
- Energy is carried between turns and you can discard cards from your hand for one energy each
- The block is played reactively, meaning that not only you'll know that the enemy will attack you next turn, but you can wait untill it attacks before playing your defense cards
- Each character has different mechanics and a different spell that synergize with them, giving you a unique experience with each of them
- Everytime you beat the game once, you can choose cards to keep in the starting deck of your character, adding a rogue-lite side to the game
- Everytime you kill an enemy, another one will respawn until you kill enough of them to stop it. This gives even small fight the potential to degenerate.
- If you don't get any damage, you'll receive extra rewards.

I could go on with the list but I believe that you really should see yourself by playing this gem. It's not a Slay the Spire clone, it's a completely different card game that feels and plays differently. The best part is that all of this is still in early acces and I believe more content will be available as the community grows.
Graphics and animations are some of the best I found in card games.
