2.0 just came out and now is honestly the best time to review Cyberpunk.

Yes the release had many rough edges, so much you could cut yourself on them at every turn.
But over 3 years the game refined itself and became a true crowning jewel of AAA gaming.

STORY

The writing is better than average, while it clearly doesn't reach the heights of the genre, it is a good enough effort to keep you engaged and immersed. While the voice acting does a big bulk of the work in selling you the universe, the many characters are all interesting in their own ways, and while the story could be more grim it still manages to scratch an itch, especially with how most AAA game's story are too afraid to go into depressing, bluntly human routes.

GRAPHICS

Well this is probably the most gorgeous game ever made, provided you can run it at its peak. The Ray Tracing is fantastic and the attention to detail makes every environment a wonder to explore.

GAMEPLAY

The gunfeel is solid, and there are notable differences between guns. The melee combat has also wildly improved since 1.0, helped by the completely new Skill Tree which honestly is the best part of this 2.0 version.
This revamped Skill Tree tosses the mind-numbing damage percent upgrades away, and in its stead every single node changes the way you play.
I still have to delve deeper into it, but the fact the first few nodes in "Reflexes" allows you to shoot and reload while running is already a massive change to gameplay and honestly the most early and fun character evolution I've witnessed in any Skill Tree ever. There seem to be quite a bit of "hidden" synergy between trees, and skill points can be refunded at any point freely, letting you truly explore your options, while still giving you this long term choice of how you spec your attributes into a build.
Another small change is the simplification of loot which makes parsing through loot way less of a chore and puts more emphasis on cyber enhancements.

CONCLUSION

If you didn't like Cyberpunk because of it's writing, or the lack of choices in quest : 2.0 doesn't fix that.
If you can enjoy 2077 for what it offers, then 2.0 is just a way way more engaging canvas around an already solid foundation, letting the gameplay truly pursue the heights of its potential.

In short, if you think you can enjoy a "linear quest based" open world, with decent writing, and great gameplay, 2.0 is THE moment for you to hop in.
If the structure of the game, the lack of open choices and the less than stellar writing made you dislike 2077, then maybe wait until the DLC drops.
In any case, this 2.0 update is just better than the base game in most aspects. It doesn't change the core foundation, but it clearly makes the entire game much better.

Early Access Review
