Fulfil your innate genetically hardwired desire to die with your brothers against insurmountable odds in a bloody last stand.

You know how you get chills every time you watch that youtube video of the ride of the Rohirrim in Return of the King? That is you body telling you something. Listen to it. Your place is here, on the battlefield. Join the fight for democracy. For survival. Live as Theoden King in every game you play.

I'll see you on Fenrir lll

A lot of hyperbolic hot air happening in these reviews so feel obliged to leave my own review.

The main point or critisism seems to be the currently inanccurate store page description, the guys have stupidly advertised their eventaul vision of the game versus what is currently on offer. The optimist in me puts this down to 8 exhausted devs forgetting to edit the copy to be reflective of the current product. If not, then the negative reviews are justified, as what is described is not what you currently get.

But what you do currently get is still an outstanding game that many of us in the milsim community have been waiting for for many years - a large scale, realistic world war 2 experience that doesn't suck.

An extraordinary variety of weapons and vehicles are at your disposal as you fight through the fields of Holland during Market Garden. Infantry combat is intense and rewarding, with the vast majority of players relying on bolt action rifles, and with bolt actions often being the better pick over the mass of submachine guns that have so frequently made ww2 games feel inauthentic in the past.

Tank warfare can be buggy but the experience is unparalleled, I have never felt so immersed and invested in my crew and vehicle than when driving a Tiger Tank toward 2 British tanks and emerging victorious. It is compelling stuff, truly amazing.

Tactics are what win a battle, and while the game is still in it's teething stage and it can be frustrating to be in a silent squad in a useless zerg pushing a point and being mowed down by a well postioned half track, if you find yourself in a battle with competent squad leaders and a commander and you won't find a more exciting world war 2 experience out there.

The game needs time for players to learn the basics, and for the devs to fix some issues like spawning, but if you give it a chance you'll find a game that is rewarding, nail-biting and as realistic as you can get short of hopping in a time machine and heading back to 1944.

This negative review revoloves solely around the absolutely awful 'tutorial' I have just experienced. I've wanted to get into total War games for many years and finally bit the bullet with this one as I enjoyed Warhammer as a child.

I selected the Orc campaign and followed the initial instructions the tutorial provided, winning the first battle as would be expected. I continued to do as the tutorial narrator instructed until I began to be told to do things without it being explained how to do them (such as build a research camp for goblins, which i tried to do but was told I couldnt without upgrading my main camp, with no instructions on how to do so)

The tutorial narrator advises me to surround an opposing camp and starve them out, i select the option and wait, realize on my own I might have to end my turn, do so, then I'm advised to recruit a lord from a controlled camp - since I have none I click around confused for 10 minutes, decide to try to take over the camp i'm starving out to recruit a lord but am promptly defeated twice, left without a hero and no instruction as to what to do.

I'm sure Total War veterans are chuckling at my stupidity but without being guided as a new player this is what can happen, I'm left feeling very annoyed in the space of 2 hours with a game i was very excited to get into.
