When I first got in the game, I really wasn't super impressed. The graphics were kind of poopy and the controls weren't as intuitive as I had hoped. Switching weapons mid combat was a chore (always having to open the inventory screen).

After modding the game, however, THIS GAME IS THE BEST VR GAME I HAVE EXPERIENCED THUS FAR.

The mods you use will ultimately be personal preference, but the one mod you NEED is vrik. It adds a virtual body that you can simply grab and holster weapons to. This means no longer going into the inventory to pull out your bow or sword but instead simply grabbing it from your back or side. This was a huuuuge impact on gameplay.

Make sure you set up sky ui and sskevr correctly. You are going to have to spend a little time setting up vortex or whatever mod manager you want to use and this might mean spending a couple hours getting to know how to set these things up, but once you have it going you can swap out mods with ease. I could easily recommend this game to a player who will invest the couple of hours necessary to mod it, but if you aren't going to mod the game you can probably expect a lackluster experience.

Real quick, the mods I recommend getting are: 2017 textures. The unofficial skyrim patch. Realistic lighting overhaul. Sounds of skyrim and vrik. Get these mods and your game will be almost too immersive.

I've literally never played such an unoptimized game.

Benchmarks: Instead of "How well does your machine play crysis on full?"

It should definitely be "How well does your machine play star forge on low?"
