Bought it, got scared, returned it.

This game doesn't need my review but all I'm going to say is my friend and I call this game "old reliable". We play this when we are bored and always have a great time.

Rust is a game I honestly think gets better with every update. The game has pulled me and my friends in for hours, the only reason I stopped playing is I no longer have a group to play with. You can still play the game by yourself but it's infinitely better with friends. You can get more done just in general and if you don't have a good base and don't maintain it you will get raided and lose everything. The community can be toxic and some people have had horrible toxic experiences but at least it's avoidable here unlike other games, you can find a server with little toxicity, at least I was able to. This game can truly be great but it's up to you how much effort you put in. Maintaining your base might become like a job but if you like that kind of thing and want to put the effort in it's worth it.

At the game's core, it's great. Not something you can play for hours on end but something you could play here and there and have a great time. After a while, the game get's repetitive of course but it's the people that help make the game fun. And that's the problem...the people. Most of (not all) the community is toxic, maybe this has to do with a lot of younger kids playing it but even the older audiences seem to be toxic. People leaving if they don't get traitor, swearing each other off for no reason, kicking people in games for no reason, hacking, etc. This can all be avoided if you are playing with a group of friends, which is what I recommend.

If you want a worse Dark RP and GTA Online clone this is the game for you. If not just spend $9.99 and buy Garry's Mod or spend more and buy GTA and play on FiveM.

Servers are limited and have abusive admins most of the time (spawning money and other "fun" stuff). There are glitches still in the game from day one that has yet to be fixed. This game is just a bunch of unity assets with a game idea that has already been done and they didn't improve upon it (and this game does it worse). The map editor is cool I guess but I can't really see myself paying for this game even with the cheap price tag.

This game has been and will be great. If it's too much money for you to justify buying it wait for it to go on sale (usually $4.99). The same goes for the DLCs. The State DLCs are definitely worth buying. All of them are great there really is no bad choice. Overall some people find this game boring but if you are interested in this type of thing it's loads of fun. Not to mention the third-party multiplayer mod so you can drive with your friends.

Update: Now with the new convoys update you don't need to download a mod to play with your friends! You and your friend can truck across America all you want and it's great.
