Having played call of combat about eight years ago, I can safely say this game is a huge improvement (even though I really liked call of combat). It was very nice to see the same dedicated players from eight years ago still playing, but regular activity on the game is scarce, what a shame. I suggest getting this game, games this day and age are nothing like the play style of this, definitely a rare breed. That being said, the game isn't dead, there are people on regularly, just finding a big game can be challenging.

The group chat is integrated with their discord so there are always tons of people to actually talk to about the game, and improves the odds of getting a game going. You should give this game a chance! Challenging to master and extremely balanced. The developers are constantly working on the game so there is no worry of development grinding to a halt.

Want to quit the game abruptly? Ctrl + Alt + Del, start task manager, and end process tree.

Absolutely amazing, and still so much potential, get this game!

Played this before it came to steam, had many nice features and expected bugs. I play it now, servers are consistently down every other day for maintenance. Download at least a gig so far of unexplained data from them, and they refuse to explain what it is (no patch notes nothing). I asked them a few questions and got snotty responses and then blocked from their facebook page. I was not hostile, I was only asking questions and stating facts.(they didn't like everyone seeing how they treat people) Overall, decent game, but clearly you can tell how competant the devs are since the game still says its beta after several years, and they decided "you know what? instead of finishing the game, how about we make a new faction? yeah that'd be cool!"

I still play this game, I just follow two rules, don't give these bastards a dime and play just to bog down their servers.

Why is this free?

Freaking AWESOME, especially for alpha. Imagine minecraft mixed with dead island. GET THIS GAME.

The people too cheap to play MTGO and demand more for less will nay say this game. If you like magic (especially if you are new) you'll have a great time. Long time magic players can still appreciate this game, but people need to realize coming into it, no game has the customization of MTGO or MTG IRL. You get what you pay for, and this game gives you a good amount.
