If you haven't played Quake, just do it. It's amazing and this 25th anniversary coat of paint has breathed new life into it. You have endless fun in the arena PvP, and an amazing campaign mode that will give you hours of old school FPS dungeon crawling. They've added a new chapter as well with the remaster, so those of us that have played over the years have something new to enjoy. Excellent addition to anyone's library.

Early Access Review
Glitchy unfinished, abandoned trash. When I first played this game back within the first 6 months of release, all the issues were forgivable. The game was early access and was the pioneer into the genre. Then games like Rust, H1Z1, etc came along, started pretty mediocrely, and then far surpassed this one. Been awhile since I booted up but last time I checked, after a couple years away from the game, the glitches were still maddening. Zombie's are a pain to fight, they phase through walls, the map is too big for the amount of people playing (if there's still anyone playing). Truth is, the people who played games like this have moved on to Battle Royal games. Same general idea, but way faster paced and rewarding. The problem with this game is there is/was no incentive for people to move in and interact; so the vast majority of your time is spent rummaging around in barren wasteland, very likely without any proper weapons. Save your money, just go play PUBG if you want a proper alternative, and if you are cool with arcade style gameplay and simplified everything, go play Fortnite. Both are much better options than this.

This game was pretty good, but sadly it has been plagued with a pretty heavy amount of hackers. It's currently still a problem and looks like it will be for awhile. The devs have been cracking down on the creators of cheats but the issue is still there.

Aside from the hackers though this game still has a high amount of bugs and operating issues that are inexcusable for a full release. Things that should have been fully ironed out in alpha/beta are still plaguing the game. Textures fail to load, aiming down sites still gets caught on invisible walls when peaking rails, models don't match there collision boxes.

It's a lot of things that really disturb the integrity of the overall experience. On top of that there are supersized updates almost every other day for seemingly no reason. The game remains the same for the most part but every couple of days a 4GB+ sized patch needs downloading. This may not be an issue for everyone, but for those like myself who are on a slow connection, the game is never ready when you are.

Then there's the new "Event Pass" which is a terrible value and ultimately a farcry from competitors offers. I used to laugh when people compared this game to Fortnite, as I was somewhat of a PUBG purest. But when this game started getting hit with the hackers etc, I gave Fortnite another chance. Since then Fortnite has done nothing but get better while this remains stagnant or gets worse.

The gunplay and realism of physics etc in this game is still something that is very enjoyable, but ultimately, I can't recommend it over Fortnite to be honest. Save your money, and play something else. If you want a BR game, Fortnite is your best option.

*OLD REVIEW* (Alpha Build)

*******The paid content is for a special event!********

The amount of people leaving negative reviews simply because the dev has keyed (payed) boxes that are for a special event and internal testing is absurd. The paid content is to support a tournament that is going on during Gamescon, as well as to iron out any issues that might be present upon full release.

On top of this they also released a whole bunch of free content that doesn't require a purchase to unlock at the same time. You can choose to get a pay-for unlock or free unlock crate and if you choose to, can completely ignore the pay-for items.

As for the game itself it has it's issues, many of which have plans to be fixed in the near future. Overall though the game is very fun and gets most of the entertainment from the uncertainty of other players. There's no base building, nor resource gathering. This is purely a "last man standing" game where you find weapons and healing items.

My biggest complaint would be the server speeds. They have a noticeable amount of lag resulting in behind cover shots and all around strange timing instances.

That being said I enjoy it, but just think people shouldn't expect rust or other games style of play. You work on mastering a few variables to focus on a singular goal. There are plans for more game modes but I can't comment on those as they7 aren't even in the PTR yet.

Fun at first but quickly becomes a lesson in repetition and trial & error. Looks cute, good sound, but the neccesity to repeat levels to completion becomes a chore rather than fun. There's no variety in solving puzzles as you're forced to complete each puzzle essentially on rails.

You would expect there to be a set of core mechanics that allow you to solve puzzles based on your knowledge of the game. But the game has instadeaths, invisible enemies and a general environment that requires you to do levels more than once because there's no way you could do so without repetition. Usually puzzle games offer level design that can lead to "FIRST TRY!" moments now and again because of skill. No amount of skill will help you here though, if you havent memorised a level, you will lose until you sctuslly do memorise it.

***********Written Review*************

At first the game seems like a good game. I initially had a decent amount of fun but that quickly wore off after a few more shots. Quite simply the game relies too heavily on luck. Either you'll find the supplies and the right enemies to fight or you won't. Theres never a point where it feels like you could have changed the tides if you were to do things differently.

Pros:
Good artwork
Performance was good
Lots of crafting

Cons:
Repetitive
Relies on luck
Unfair enemies (120 HP that deals 15+ damage per turn while you do 15 max depending on how lucky you were)
Game tries to encourage backtracking which is entirely useless.

If youre gonna have a party, then you better be ready to party hard with all the traditional favors; drinks, dancing, music, knives, poison, bombs, and bears. Ok, maybe you
shouldn't party that hard personally but that's how you do it in Party Hard by Indie Dev Pinoki Games. Party Hard is a game about a man who is fed up with his neighbors
constant partying and he justs wants to get some sleep. However that man is also a brutal psychopath choosing to end the party by any means neccesary without stopping
until going around the country and crashing each party he encounters. You'll enter each party armed with nothing but a knife where the only goal is to kill everyone.
You also have the capability to rig traps, sabatoge environments, pick up other weapons and tools, and also call in support from time to time. Regardless of your approach
you have to be careful and not be seen doing any of these attacks. The overall system works very well with party goers only calling you out if they see you commit the crime,
or walk in on you standing near dead bodies.

The environmental attacks work as a sort of freebie and won't alert people to your pressence but if they see the dead body
they're likely to call the cops which tends to make things more difficult until they leave. If I had one complaint here, it's that I wish there was even more environmental
interaction. With the procedral style level design these objects change position making it interesting with room for replayability, but I still would like to see more to
interact with. What tends to happen is you stab a few victims, hide a few bodies and start activating traps, only to run out and wait for the npc's to break away from the
crowd one by one thus repeating this step over and over. It's still satisfying to single out victims, but the game gets really exciting when you unleash a big attack forcing
the scragglers into other surrounding traps.

That brings me to the overall design and tone. Party Hard is a modern day 16-bit game in a half ♥♥♥♥♥♥ birds eye view, which definitely brings a comparison to the similar
styled game Hotline Miami. But, where hotline miami was a fast paced shoot & slug fest, Party Hard takes things a bit slower invoking a lot of technical planning and
thinking. I think this is great because rather than be a copy, it's a very different game that will appeal to the same audience. If you enjoyed Hotline Miami, and enjoy
puzzle like stealth then you'll enjoy this. The music will also likely get you pumped and excited as you play. Right away I was bobbing my head and enjoying the music the
moment I started until it was over.

The story was good as well with a recollective style narrative involving a cop and interviewer discussing the path the murderer took. It kept me hooked in and was very well
done with a few twists and decent voice acting. It took me a bit over 7 hours to complete but I'll definitely be playing again to try and get faster times and better
scores.

Overall Party Hard is a game you should play. It has good replayability, the gameplay is smooth and I encountered only a few technical issues. Its gritty story and
violent nature are entertaining and the soundtrack is just awesome. The only negatives are as I mentioned, the enironments could use a bit more interaction, and I would like
to have had more weapon options and traps. With that I'm giving Party Hard an A-. This is definitely one to pick up and I wouldn't be surprised if there is a second one.

I'm Conner and thanks for watching my review. For more gaming videos, hit subscribe or check out UberCrit.com. But for now, here's a closer look at Party Hard.

Let me start by saying that if you get your kicks from fast paced action,
explosive energy, and the frusration of constantly trying to one up your fiends
or your own personal best, Horizon Shift is for you. If you fall into this
categoy you can stop reading now and just go buy the game, seriously it's
pretty awesome and very addicting. After finding my bairings, I couldn't put
the thing down and found myself lost in a world of bright lights, booming club
music, and never ending frustration. Not the bad kind though, it was the
frustration of being so close to completing my next goal only to misstep,
causing my run to end just shy of my mark. Horizon shift has the characteristics
to make you grit your teeth in anticipation while propetually smiling the
entire time. The controls work great, the game runs smoothly, and as far as I
noticed nothing seemed to be broken. If I had to state any issues, it would be
the lack of multiplayer, and that once you play tournament mode, everything else
fails to be as entertaining. I would have liked to see something done for a co-op
or vs mode in some form, but sadly thats not here in any way. As for tournament
mode it's pretty easy to see just by watching what I mean. If the game had a more
random format rather than set wave types this might not be as big of an issue.
Regardless tournament mode is so break neck fast, and full of action that if
anything other than a pattern system existed, I feel it would be too dificult to
take seriously. Even the occaisional random meteor shower tends to be a bit much
at times.

Overall I'm giving Horizon Shift a B+. It does a fantastic job of differentiating
itself from all the other shoot em ups and bullet hells. And it's also very fun
and addicting. But it falls a bit short in that it lacks what seems like a great
opportunity for multiplayer, and it also becomes a bit stale in the modes other
than tournament mode once you give that a go. Even with that though I feel
tournament mode is enough to keep players coming back to try and top the scoreboards.

Great game, I highly reccomend picking it up! -8/10

Absolutely terrible. For a video review check this out,

Basically nothing works right in this game, it fails to have veriety in the characters, or proper controls for that matter. At one point the game broke on me and didnt allow me to continue onward. This game also lacks the inherit laugh factor of being bad and just comes off as totally boring.

DON'T BUY
