This game is so much fun! It makes you feel like such a bad ass without actually being one. It's the perfect blend between simplicity and realism. The startup procedures are a blast even though it's just flipping a few switches. It makes you really feel like you know your ♥♥♥♥.

The "hover" mode can definitely take some getting used to, and it almost made me nauseous a few times. Other than that, I had a ton of fun doing the training sessions and a mission.

At first I was thoroughly frustrated and unimpressed with the performance of the game and seemingly lack of control. A lot of reading on Reddit, Steam, and watching YouTube, I finally found the sweet spot which fixed ALL of the issues I was having and made the game run smooth with minimal reprojection. It seems that every system is different and its just a matter of tweaking until you find what works best for you. I would say that this shouldn't have to be the case in a AAA title, but it is what it is and if you are dying to play Fallout in VR its just a necessary evil as it stands currently.

The game itself is a blast in VR. I don't necessarily feel immersed but that really doesn't take away from the experience in my opinion.

Cons:
  • Not being able to look through scopes is a huge frustration, but using mods and hopefully a native patch update will correct that sooner rather than later.
  • It would have been nice to incorporate two hands for weapons and reloading, but considering this game was not made for VR from the ground up, it makes sense why it isn't there.
  • The Power Armor UI is horrible. Even with my config tweaks the overlay is laggy and difficult to use. The entire HUD is not completely visible and you have to keep your head still and strain your eyes to see the core meter. What's worse is that you can't really see "through" it to loot, causing you to stare at the floor in order to loot something at waist level.
  • It's so easy to unlock chained doors and to loot items behind walls/fences/doors. All you do is walk next to it and then physically walk through the door. It's kind of awesome but really immersion breaking.
  • I'm genuinely unsure if you need to unlock the hip fire perk since you can never actually "aim" to make your accuracy better.

Pros:
  • Settlement building is a lot more fun now.
  • Shooting weapons and throwing grenades is fairly satisfying.
  • Controls are pretty intuitive and responsive.
  • Looting is a lot of fun again.
  • Melee weapons are actually enjoyable (at least to me). On pancake versions I was never a big user of those weapons.
  • It's Fallout 4. In VR.

Overall I highly recommend this if you are willing to make the adjustments necessary to make the game run smoothly on your system.

This was one of the first games I purchased when I got VR. I loved this game on console so figured it was a safe bet and I couldn't have been more right.

Talos Principle translates so well to VR you would have thought that this was developed natively for VR. Out of the box the teleport control is enabled which is actually pretty good, but I prefer to use locomotion. Luckily Croteam is awesome and allows you to finely tune all of your VR controls. There are quite a few options to really customize your experience.

The graphics are also really good and just like VR controls, these can be finely tuned.

You really can't go wrong with this one.

Pavlov is a really fun VR shooter that takes some time to learn. Do not expect to jump in online and waste other players. There is a community with some really good players who will headshot you from fifty meters using a pistol. Expect to be humbled, but at the same time you'll have a lot of fun cutting your teeth.

I got motion sickness the first time playing this game and tend to get dizzy even outside of VR, but let me tell you, playing this for 15-30 minutes for a few days straight got me acclimated and now I can play for hours without even feeling slightly quesy.

There are only a few maps out of the box, but luckily an active community has created various workshop maps to download. Among them are Counter-Strike remakes such as Aztec, Dust2, and Train. It was very cool to experience these maps in VR and brought a strong sense of nostalgia.

** (this is on the roadmap to be addressed in future patch)

Pros:
- Weapons are fun and easy to manipulate
- Headshots are very satisfying
- You can absorb more than two bullets (I'm looking at you Onward)
- Seek & Destroy mode is great and the bomb arm/defuse mechanics are interesting
- Community is mostly cool. There have been a few matches where kids TK or just rush the other team with knives instead of playing objectives, but that's only happened maybe twice to me personally.
- Counter-Strike maps in VR

Cons:
- Bots are really dumb **
- Grenades are kind of strange, they arent as powerful as you'd expect
- Character models are not very different between the teams **
- Not much onboarding process, you are sort of left to figure out the mechanics and controls on your own mostly
- Currently can't invite friends to match **

Overall I recommend this if you can look past surface level shortcomings and just enjoy it for what it is. This is an early access game and the developers seem to be very active, so this can only get better from here.

If you are looking for a fun and casual game to play on VR this is it. As a fan of tower defense games I can safely say that Skyworld brings a fresh gameplay experience to the genre.

I haven't completed the campaign yet so cannot comment on the length of the game but can say that the four or five missions that I have completed took a few hours to complete.
