I had been wanting to play this game for so long, and thanks to the free weekend deal, I was finally able to do so. In hindsight, I should have just removed it from my wishlist a long time ago.

The game throws you into this terrible and absolutely desolate coastline area, devoid of any kind of food or supplies. I had to restart (aka died due to starvation/dehydration) 5 times and waste hours upon hours in order to finally get further inland, with promises of "better loot" (according to YouTube videos) being stuck in my head. Surprise, surprise, it's all the same. I don't know how "inland" you have to go in order to reach this "better loot", but if reaching Severograd (which is waaay up north) isn't enough, I don't know what is. Anyway, the houses are all just straight up empty and half the doors are sealed off, which takes away from the open world experience. Luckily for you, though, you'll find plenty of car doors and other "useless" junk you don't really need at the beginning (especially not as a new player). Set up a campfire, roast said car doors and enjoy your meal that's teeming with iron - it's good for you. I really don't understand what the point of the coastline even is. It's supposed to be the starting area, yet it's a completely useless and straight up empty garbage pile that you're advised to leave as soon as possible.

Additionally (while we're on the topic of roasting car doors), the crafting system in this game is just one big, fat failure. It's like someone took a ♥♥♥♥, smeared it all over the planning board and presented it at the meeting. Legitimately braindead and uninviting in any way, shape or form. Absolutely shameful. Whoever came up with it should honestly just sit down and question their sanity.

Also, let's not even talk about trying to meet up with your friends - that's a whole new can of worms that you really do not want to engage with. In total, I spent 6 hours trying to reach my friends - none of which I was able to successfully locate. You either die due to the lack of resources or you quit and uninstall cause it's a waste of time. The map is ENORMOUS and doesn't fit well with the amount of loot provided, making it extremely difficult and TEDIOUS. If my friends and I have to rush into zombies and wait for them to kill us 10 times in order to actually spawn anywhere near each other, what's the point? Who has that kind of time? By the same token, I don't know how we would have even survived, had we actually managed to meet up. I could barely keep myself alive with the amount of loot available, let alone a whole group. But hey, car doors.

I've barely scratched the surface with my review, but I'll stop here because I cannot be bothered anymore.

Fun concept, terrible execution - just like "good" ol' H1Z1/Just Survive. Do not waste 40 euros on this. Go explore the store and buy something more fun and cohesive than this running simulator. Even 10 euros would be too much for this kind of... whatever this is.

It's a fun game with lots of possibilities, but it did get boring and quite repetitive after just 25 hours of gameplay, at which point my friend and I just turned on Creative Mode and started renovating a random barn, basically playing The Sims in a zombie survival game and waiting for a horde to come.

Not worth the full price, in my opinion. Wait for it to be on sale.

Not my cup of tea. Feels like a really bad mixture of Left4Dead, Killing Floor and trashy game mechanics/design.

Never before have I seen such an amazing MMORPG like TERA. This is truly one of the best MMORPG games I have ever played, and the combat system is simply epic. I highly recommend choosing TERA over any other MMORPG.
