This is quite a weird mashup of a few different game genres and so far I'm liking it. Still on my first playthrough. I will update this later.

RPG + Rogue-Like + Cards/deck building

I almost feel like the cards element is unnecessary but it does make RPGs into a nice format.
The concept of arguments (instead of battle) is quite interesting too. Excited to see where this goes.

Overall the character design and voice acting is up to the typical standard you can expect from this developer.

This has been a really fun and interesting addition to the XCOM series. I have been pretty addicted to it!

Pros:
- The new breach mode and encounters is a nice change to make the battles more interesting and dynamic.
- Priority per character rolls like DnD which is a little easier to digest when you're taking your turns than previous games in which you do your entire squad per turn.
- The character design and banter between them is fun. It's more like a graphic novel and I like that style.
- Generally this is a more accessible and easier game than the older ones in the series. It's less "mean." If a squad member dies, it's game over. You stop there. Unlike the older games that allowed you to progress for many hours deeper before you realize you screwed up WAY WAY back.

Cons:
- Also a pro but because there are preset characters, you cannot customize your squad like the old games.
- The way the ending plays out is pretty anti-climatic. The last mission was honestly pretty underwhelming. In the last few turns I was just cleaning up weenies. In the old games, I would actually get totally stuck on the last mission with the "boss" type elder characters and too many sectopods. That wasn't necessarily ideal either but something in-between would have been nice. The challenge on the final mission has always been off in every XCOM game that I have played, IMO.

This game made me sad for the Borderlands series. It has a lot of the pieces that were needed for a good Borderlands game but the endgame is just not there. If you only ever played Borderlands 2 through a single playthrough, then you'll be fine with this. If you played hundreds of hours because of the expansions and endgame bosses, you will be majorly dissapointed with this game. All the DLCs and not one raid added. Not even anything up to par with Terramorphous or Vermiverous in the base game. Not even close. They also made the acheivements griefing by making some of the challenges only do-able once per playthrough. I hope the MMOFPSRPG that they are teasing makes up for this.

Has really been a handy tool in reining in my spending and budgeting. The Android app is a very nice bonus. It makes it all so easy to keep up with.

It's like Minecraft for people that are more into rocket science than Legos. There is nothing else to compare this "game" to!

For every strength this game has it lacks something else in actual gameplay. If you're really into shooters but like the idea of a more unique and fantastic story, you're going to be a tad disappointed like me. For people that are mainly there for the story and prefer the gameplay to not be very challenging(or stressful), then you will enjoy the game. I played on the hardest difficulty that is available (a harder one becomes available after you win but I was over it by that point) and the game was 95% a cake-walk. Even when you do get to a hard part, the respawn system essentially holds your hand through it. The enemy/mob AI is standard and not very interesting or challenging. Every action section is essentially a shooting gallery. The game starts to encourage exploration at first until you get to the end and realize how inconsequential it was. At least the story carried me through it all.

Over hyped. Too ironic. One dimensional. Condescending. Good voice acting. Thanks but no thanks.

Great movie! Amazing animations that enhance the competition gameplay footage and a fantastic job of capturing the emotions of the players. I almost shed a tear! ;)

So far I am really impressed with this game! The way you end up paying to support them is a little strange as it is likely that you will make some regrettable decisions with the in-game currency and then just want to have what you really need immediately so you break down and just buy what you need... but it's not expensive and the devs deserve the support. If you like PvP tactical strategy, you should absolutely try it. Not pay-to-win however because of the progression of everything in the game, you will only spend money to force what you want, when you want it.

My favorite game of the BIT.TRIP series so far! Love it so much and it's actually a pretty fun party game. Just throw on easy mode and let your friends start at level one.
