Swarmlake is a fast-paced first-person shooter in which the aim is to survive for as long as possible against a never-ending, ever-growing horde consisting of waves of 3D geometric shapes which try to to encircle and trap you. You die when there is no way out for you to leave or puncture through the horde. There are various different geometric shapes each with different properties in terms of how they move and how they spawn (one type spawns in a horizontal line shaped mass, another spawns as a spherical mass etc). You have a gun with unlimited ammo which allows you to puncture your way through. There are also static, randomly spawning purple shapes which when touched explode and destroy all horde shapes with a flat circular plane of a set radius. Destroying horde shapes results in green emeralds dropping to the floor which you need to collect in order to increase your score.

Without a doubt, at least in my opinion, this game has one of the best electronic soundtracks in gaming history. It perfectly matches the fast-paced tempo of the game. It makes the already very enjoyable game even more enjoyable to play.

This game has existed for over 3 years now. I have only recently started playing but out of curiosity I looked through the update logs. It appears that the dev has been updating the game mechanics in these 3 years in order to find the perfect formula for his game. There is also a global leaderboard which allows you to see how you fare against others and also see recordings of how others played. The dev also listens to the community. Recently he undone some changes he had made which the community disliked. For all this he has my respect. I however prefer he previous update which had the changes.

This game is very cheap at only 2 GBP but it currently on a 75% sale too which means you have zero reason not to get it.

Rating: 9.25/10

As the first few achievements appeared on the corner of my screen, I felt a sense of shame and embarrassment far beyond anything I had ever experienced in my life.


10/10 would ruin my steam account again.

After mucking around on this simulator for a few hours I think I have a few things to say about it:

This game is all about disassembling and reassembling various makes of guns (there are also a few other things to disassemble like cars, tanks and animal skeletons but as you would have guessed from the title the main thing in this game is guns). You can also test out the guns firing mechanisms.

There are all sorts of guns to play around: semi automatic pistols, bolt action rifles, shotguns, assault rifles, revolvers etc. You name it, it's probably there and the devs are always adding new ones (with votes held to see what players want to see added).


Pros:
>Beautiful models with amazing attention the detail, the accuracy is mind boggling
>A potato could run this game and it takes up barely any storage space
>Aside from the models, there's plenty of images and info on the guns to view and learn
>While in the game modes, guns can also be viewed in plastic, x-ray and cutout modes
>Gun models can be repainted in anyway you like and fitted with custom grips for aesthetic purposes
> The game is free and additional content can be unlocked by playing
>Nice music packs for listening to while playing around with your gun models
>Various game modes revolving around disassembling and reassembling the gun models

Cons:
>Probably a grind to unlock the other guns but only time will tell plus you could just pay to unlock them quicker if you want

Overall: 9/10 in my opinion, but because it's free i will be giving it a 9.5/10
Great game, amazing project and concept, definitely worth a try especially considering it's free.
