Dark Souls – I’m sure you’ve heard of it… a game designed to break you and rebuild you from the ground up. A game so well made that the interconnectivity of the map amazes me to this day. When you start in the main area you have 4 paths, a new player will go up and to the left to progress normally however an empierced player can take any of the other 3 paths and find some nice weapons armour and souls to kick-start their journey though Lordran.

Dark souls will draw the deepest emotions out of you whilst you are completing a playthrough. One moment you could feel on top of the world and be dominating everything the game throws at you, Then you walk into the next area and you are doing next to no damage to the enemy’s *SPOILER* example: after you have killed quelagg you go down into the demon ruins and get obliterated by the many taurus + Capra demon ‘s down there. *END OF SPOLIER*

When you get to around the middle of the game you finally unlock the ability to warp across the map. I like the fact that you have to earn this right and that, before this moment, if you wanted to backtrack it wasn’t easy… *SPOLIER* This is a mistake that Dark souls 2 and Sark souls 3 made by giving you this ability right off that back so you get less of a feel of an interconnected map due to this. *END OF SPOILER*

The final thing I want to mention is that the Lore of the Dark Souls universe. From Software have created such an amazing atmosphere where the lore isn’t pushed down your throat but is there for those who want to know about it. Lordran is an amazing and wonderful place where everyone’s stories, no matter how pointless, connect into the bigger picture and make a difference in the Dark Souls world.

If you are wondering whether to play this game or not DEFINIATLY DO! It is amazing and will be the best choice you have ever made in your gaming life.
