I've always been a bit hesitant to play Bioware games, since I wasn't a huge fan of KOTOR or Jade Empire, but having the chance to play through each Mass Effect game in the trilogy back-to-back has been a real treat. I love the fact each game not only lets you import your save from the previous one, but they also acknowledge your choices and even alter the content given to you. There's a fantastic supporting cast in this storyline too: Garrus, EDI, Tali, Wrex— loads of fun characters. I can definitely understand why the Mass Effect Trilogy is up there as one of the "greatest of all time". Considering I only paid £3.99 for this, I'd say it's absolutely recommended!

Wow, that was great! The gameplay itself is a little janky and the performance wasn't the best, but I thought this game really nailed what Star Trek is about. I also appreciated the split with Rydek and Carter, giving you a chance to play through the Lower Decks and Bridge Staff. Personality wise, I thought it was nice that you could direct the way their characters panned out— both of which were appropriate for their positions (sprightly engineering whizz and cool-headed officer respectively for me!). There's some tough decisions all around, but they don't feel unfair, especially when you're dealing with the consequences. Lots of great details, from prop usage to sound effects (love hearing that TNG transporter beam again). I also appreciate that it was able to hearken back to the old shows without wallowing in nostalgia: you get to see some Star Trek legends appear, but they're integrated into the narrative and general premise quite well in my opinion.

Overall, I'd love to see a game in this style done again, or better yet, a sequel that follows on from the decisions made in this game!

A strange but fascinating game, and all the more impressive knowing it was mostly the effort of a single developer. I can understand the complaints about its gameplay, but if you're familiar with Half-Life 2 or any other shooter on the Source Engine then you will feel right at home here. Personally, I found the combat encounters quite engaging and tense, as you have be quick on your feet in order to survive most encounters – that said, the game is also very generous with health, ammunition and autosave checkpoints so you never really feel like you've been played too hard. Still, if you're looking to play this more as an experience of the setting, I would recommend your first playthrough be on Easy difficulty.

The biggest complaint I've heard with G String relates to its navigation and general level design, which often feels disorientating and claustrophobic because you spend most of it crawling through vents and drainage tunnels, or platforming across pools of hazardous waste. These complaints are definitely warranted if you're not familiar with Source Engine games, and even if you are it tends to be used more than any other Source title I've played. That said, I didn't have much trouble navigating the game, and I found it sort of worked with the aesthetic of the setting.

Speaking of the setting, G String is perhaps one of the best renditions of a Cyberpunk dystopia I've ever experienced. I wouldn't say its unique in design, as you can definitely see its inspirations from most popular depictions like Blade Runner or Ghost in the Shell, but the game does an excellent job of showing you its world across different scales, from epic industrial wasteland or interstellar backdrops to the intimately bleak and dreamlike warrens of its many dilapidated apartment complexes. It sometimes feels like you're navigating through a bizarre and unsettling dreamworld. It certainly has more than its fair share of breathtaking moments, and every chapter is jam packed with unique assets to expand on the scope of its world and lore. Again, for a solo dev to do all this is nothing short of impressive.

G String certainly isn't a perfect game, and people may find parts of its story contentious, but the most important thing to take away from it is that the game is a passion project from someone whose only interest was creating a world and story that they felt was worth sharing. G String is a fantastic achievement, and even if it's the first and last project by Eyaura, I'm confident that its appreciation will grow as time goes on. I highly recommend this to anyone who wants to play a game set in a unique and interesting world, or just a game made by pure passion and work ethic alone.

It's strange to think about how long ago the original Kickstarter for Wasteland 2 was. 2012 being 7 years ago! It was my first pledge to a Kickstarter campaign and probably the only one that came to fruition relatively drama free. The concept looked great, and although I hadn't played the original, I was keen to see the restoration of an IP that would otherwise never have seen the light of day.

That said, when I got my collector's edition of the game on release around 2014, I couldn't help but feel immensely disappointed. The game was clunky, unforgiving and generally lacked the kind of polish that is now unfortunately common in crowd-funded and early access games today. The pacing around the first part of the game was aggressively slow and didn't have any attempts at world-building or points of interest beyond quest-designated character interactions: by the time I got to the Rail Nomads camp I gave up. I think I retried it at least half a dozen times before dropping the game for good - another write-off for the bargain bin type. Then, after a few years, I thought I'd revisit it. Coming off a New Vegas high and hungering for another RPG to sink some time into, I downloaded the Director's Cut which boasted many new improvements and expanded content.

I'm glad I did. I noticed an immediate improvement overall in terms of technical features and general content to play around with in the game world: quirks, perks and combat balance improvements help mix up the monotony of what I'd originally considered bland combat, and I can say the additional voice-acting really improves the otherwise uninspired dialogue. The dynamic of your squad certainly lends a diversity to the game's design, allowing you multiple paths through seemingly straightforward obstacles - and with additional companions that tag along with your squad, their back-and-forth comments between NPCs in the world give a sense of interaction that makes your Rangers feel like separate entities rather than expendable pawns in an RTS game.

That's not to say the game is perfect: even today I have found plenty of bugs and glitches relating to path finding, camera and UI problems. Perhaps the most frustrating of all is related to the CLASSIC ruleset that acts as the game's framework: the game is relentless in its commitment to the ruleset, meaning the 'meta' of your playthrough will depend on what squad you've created at the very start. For those wanting to play on harder difficulties, it means that - unless you've optimised the stats for each party member according to the ruleset - you're in for a bad time. I suppose for purists this is a great thing, but for a first playthrough, knowing nothing about the game yet having to create a sensible team based off nothing but intuition or experience with prior RPG rulesets is a lot to ask of the player. The result of all this is a game that requires regular saves (something the devs even say on loading screen tooltips!) which makes every encounter feel like a gamble.

All that aside? It's engaging. Beyond the frustration and blandness of the setting, certain interactions and areas of exploration make Wasteland 2 an RPG well worth checking out, if not to see the squad you created at the beginning and have them carefully guided all the way to the end.

Probably one of the most misunderstood action role-playing games in recent memory. I think we've all seen the concept art and pre-release hype by now: the gargantuan bosses, the endless tower dungeon, the MOON. What we got instead can feel very cookie-cutter to what was expected, and I think that's what people focus too much on when playing Dragon's Dogma. Maybe the reason my opinion of the game is so good is because I didn't know about this stuff before playing it.

The game is huge. It's the kind of game I tell people to play when they ask 'why are there no RPGs like Skyrim where I can run around and explore and do quests at my own leisure?' DD can be this game, but it's so much more! You even get to start with a vocation (class) to determine your play style, and each style actually feels great (my favourite is probably the Warrior purely for the Arc of Deliverance move). However, compared to something like an Elder Scrolls game, the world is evolving, and quest windows are restricted by how far you progress through the story. I like this purely because it facilitates new game+ a lot better. Speaking of the story, you definitely feel more invested as you bring along your Pawns: otherwordly servants who join your party for adventure. There's something charming about them despite grating dialogue, you actually feel like you're a part of something.

My only gripe with the game was travelling. The world is quite large, and your only means of travel is by foot or through magical teleportation crystals (Ferrystones). Early on, when your Ferrystones are limited, you have to do a a LOT of foot travel, and it can feel very tedious. It would have been nice to have a mount. This is purely a nitpicky complaint though, as the game opens up you have access to more Ferrystones and Port Crystals, so travelling becomes much easier.

Content wise this game is packed full of things to do. At the time of writing this, I've only just finished one playthrough of the main quest without even attempting the Bitterblack Isle expansion. DD wants you to play it again in new game+, and I have no reason against doing so.

If you want a grand open-world action adventure RPG, definitely pick this up.

I feel bad for Bohemia Interactive on this one. I suppose they weren't under any obligation to finish DayZ after Dean Hall abandoned it, yet they tried their hardest. The game runs a LOT better than it did in Early Access, and it is leaps and bounds better than the mod, which ran on ArmA2's engine: genuine improvements to the animation, graphics, and UI help this new iteration of DayZ maintain a level of immersion and smooth gameplay that stops it becoming the test of mental fortitute it was once infamous for. The truth of the matter though, is that it's still DayZ. Without the rapid curiousity of its peak playerbase in the earlier 2010s, DayZ just feels like a run-of-the-mill survival game. It's a nice effort by BI to show its appreciation to the DayZ community, but the community just isn't there anymore.

Death of the Outsider is good. It may be lacking in plot quality, just as Dishonored 2 was, but like Dishonored 2 and its predecessors: Dishonored and Daud's DLCs, DotO makes up for it in excellent level design, environmtal story-telling and just general focus on little details that make exploration and stealth feel rewarding. The three new powers work very well both on their own and together if you're the experimental type. While I've defended the Chaos system in the past, I do find it refreshing that this shorter game did away with it to let you play around with everything available.

I think there should be an option for possible Dishonored sequels (and hopefully updates for the olders games) to have the option to choose between a Chaos system to allow for multiple playthroughs and an option to turn it off so players can experience the canon story without feeling left out because of their playstyle.

Overall though, I'd say it's worth the purchase if you are a fan of the series.

I'm writing this review disregarding the performance issues, as most of you be well aware of it by the time you read this.

The game improves upon the original Dishonored in its level design and general elements of its stealth gameplay: guards are more perceptive, light/shadow contrasts are utilised more and height factors based on the level layout also affect where and how you should be sneaking. There's more tools for non-lethal playthroughs now; stun mines, drop-attacks and sting darts. It really feels like Arkane listened to feedback on the first game and delivered a solution. The levels in this game are phenominal, real wide open areas with tons of tiny details packed into them. Even the ones that aren't spectacles visually are still made interesting with lots of events, exploration opportunities and secrets to find. I'm really glad they kept this approach to level design over going open world like every other game feels they have to do now.

Along with solutions comes compromise; Dishonored 2 is a great game, and builds upon its interesting lore with lots of audiographs, newspapers, letters and books to really make you invested in its world. Beyond all this, the writing falls short. The plot is a generic revenge plot outshadowed by Corvo's escapade 15 years earlier in the original game. Characters are dull - Erica Luttrell and Stephen Russell are fantastic voice actors that were wasted on monotone dialogue and commentary. The plot just doesn't have as much bite this time, you as a player don't feel urgency to pursue these assination targets as you did in the first game.

Nevertheless, even with the lesser points weighed in, Dishonored 2 is a great game with many options available for the player just as they were in the first. Worth playing, if not buying.
