Peglin seeks to take the calm and very satisfying gameplay of Peggle and flip it on its head by turning it into a exciting Roguelike where you fight monsters by playing small rounds of Pachinko and collect powerful orbs and upgrades to obtain crazy effects and synergies and take down tougher foes.

At that, the game succeeds, there's a good variety of builds you can get in your runs with a decent amount of options for each, the battles are fun and satisfying (more so as your build develops along the run) and there's plenty of different enemies, random events, peg layouts and items to keep things fresh.

Although it is not without its flaws, all of which are magnified by the game's main source of replay value in the form of the "Cruciball".
The Cruciball is a set of 20 scaling difficulties, each one presenting a new rule or modifier that will stack with every previous level (buffing enemies, nerfing your options, limiting your resources and more).
These will make the game get pretty ugly pretty quickly, at first it starts as a pleasant challenge as some may find the base game easy once they get a better understanding of the game's mechanics but with later stages, it'll start to demand more and more perfection out of the player.

For the battles, this is not exactly doable as the player has rather limited input besides aiming where the ball is initially shot from, you can get screwed over badly by plenty of things that you simply cannot control. I've found myself resorting to what is essentially save-scumming on the last few Cruciball levels to try and get some of the RNG-dependant factors to lean in my favor to avoid losing the run and having to spend more time to try and get a decent run going again.
For the run-building, it starts to limit the viability of items, previously mediocre ones may actually start to become more desireable as later Cruciball restrictions are rolled in but for the most part it narrows the list of items you'll actually want to take as you realize that a grand majority of the Orbs and Relics (passive upgrades) in the game are really underwhelming or just do you more bad than good, which also starts to impact what builds you can go for if you're looking to beat the entire Cruciball.

On a lesser note, currently the list of encounters is varied but it's also small enough where you'll find the same battle somewhat consistently every time you go through the same area (of which there are only 3 currently but that isn't an issue in it of itself but it means that runs are rather short).

All in all, the game is a very charming spin on roguelikes and Peggle with a lot of cool ideas, the combat is engaging and there's a lot of fun to be had with the sorts of synergies and builds you can get, but unless you're a completionist, it's better to avoid the Cruciball for the most part.
The game is getting updated regularly with new fight layouts, items and balance changes but the game itself is still rather small content-wise currently to justify the 20 dollar price tag, but I'm very excited for what it can become in the future.

A brief but extremely fun little adventure for a very modest price!

The movement is immensely satisfying, chaining your differently learned techniques with one another to reach crazy heights and distances never gets old and I found myself doing tricks just about everywhere to get some extra momentum or just flex some parkour muscles!

Seeing how you can tackle the world bit by bit with each new upgrade is great, and you can tackle a lot of the challenges from different angles or even at different points if you've just got the right idea and the technique to back it up!
There's also a lot of little bonuses to search for and they provide a little extra challenge for those who like to leave no collectibles behind!

Gameplay aside, the atmosphere is lovely, with a bit of mystery. The music fits the mood greatly. The characters are charming and those who provide dialogue are even more so! (I'm personally really fond of the designs of the Goat Butlers and Sybil herself!)

The lack of a map does make traversal a bit daunting at times if you don't remember which way leads where but the world is small enough to make a refresher-lap a breeze with all the tools you're given!

All in all, a great compact adventure with a lot of replayability and movement unlike most! A very, very strong recommendation!

Fantastic graphics and fun gameplay, now, the regular battles are pretty easy, but trying to get the A+, P or S ranks can be extremely challenging, and that's why I love it.

Early Access Review
An absurdly fun combat game where you can slice, smash and just decimate your enemies to bits in a robotic colosseum of chaos.

Combat is fun and has plenty of depth with the upgrade system, knowing how to counter the ever-escalating threats the game throws at you to even small details like being able to hinder the enemies by cutting off their arms/legs, though be warned that it can happen to you too! The block-based destruction is very fun and cutting someone in half or smashing them to rubble never stops feeling awesome.

The game's got plenty of singleplayer content like a small campaign, an endless mode, special challenges and even a very in-depth level editor while also providing plenty of multiplayer offerings like multiplayer versions of endless and challenges along with new modes like duels and even a battle royale of sorts.

Player numbers aren't the highest (gravitating around the couple hundreds) but you should never have any trouble finding enough folks for online.

All the non-player characters are also a delight with the game's very silly and charming dialogue, of course the stars of the show being Commentatron and Analysis Bot. There's never a dull moment in the Danger Zone!
