Early Access Review
I will say, I was pleasantly happy with this game. I beat it last night at just over 30 hours of play time, thoroughly enjoyed it both in single player and multi-player. The game is a good sequel to the Forest, with better graphics, much larger map and better building mechanics. Playing single player doesn't feel so lonely with Kelvin and Virginia.

The game does have plenty of bugs and sometimes some performance issues, but I do not think, from mine and friends experience, that it was detrimental to our experience playing the game and we never had any crashing or terrible lag. Though I do know I've seen many people talk about many crashes.

PROS:
- Building is better, feels more realistic and you're not just dropping logs to an outline always
- The map is soooooooo much bigger
- The graphics are better and is prettier, more abundant forest
- Lots of cool, unique places to build bases
- AI seems more intelligent and there is different tiers within the local tribes, makes it more of a challenge
- Some of the caves are massive and fun to explore, lots of enemies that respawn often and can feel like a challenge
- Water slides and golf balls
- Lots of weapons to choose from and make it your own experience
CONS:
- Bugs (Kelvin doing weird things and breaking bases, pathing issues with npcs, sledding in water makes it's impossible to stop, no damage from flying off a mountain on a sled, invisible stumps, Kelvin options disappear from time to time, dead bodies twerk, cooking or dropping rancid meat makes it good)
- Buildable items that were in the first are currently missing that would make things nice
- Can't seem to build a gate on the defensive wall, but the guide books make it seem like you can (I might have been missing something)
- Can't lock doors and can't bar windows, cannibals will walk in like they own the place

Overall, the game needs work as it is in early access but that doesn't excuse the fact that a good game is there. The criticism it's getting is silly, people forget "The Forest" was missing so much of what it has now when it first came out and it was in Early Access. If you're worried about the fact it's missing things, then wait for the game to fully release. Want a good time alone or with friends? This game has hours of fun things to explore!

I have played for 5.1 hours on this since launch, but also numerous hours through multiple beta events. Through my time playing, yes I see similarities between this and Civilization, but it is definitely it's own game. One major thing that sets this game apart is the ability to change cultures on every era up, so you can start as the Egyptians, then move to Rome, then the Chinese, and so on. This alone adds so much play-ability to the game, as your strategy changes completely between this. You go a science based civ and getting wrecked by a warring nation? Then on next era, change to something else that lets you dominate over them and use your previous time as a science civ help you with more advanced military units with now higher production! With each civilization getting unique units/buildings and visuals...it really makes every era less boring and make it enjoyable.

I want to mention there are some UX and visual bugs with the game on tooltips and panels. The AI also are indecisive and will create a pact with you for non-aggression, then change their minds 3 turns later and declare surprise war...it can be annoying. Scroll speed is weird and quite slow when zoomed out, and seems to be the exact same speed when you're zoomed in. This isn't changeable, and mouse to any edge doesn't move the camera (so no this isn't a faster way).

Overall, the game feels fun and good to play...just has a few things that could use improvement/patches. I am excited to see what more they'll add to it!

If you like Civilization or games like this, buy this game.
If you like the 4X, turn-based experience, but this game.
