I'm blown away by how good this game is. It's incredibly rare that in 2025 that you buy a game that is complete and just works perfectly straight out of the gate. It runs smoothly on my older hardware, and runs at 60fps consistent on the Steamdeck.

Getting the ugly out of the way first, it's still very rough around the edges.
- Pathfinding can be annoying. Especially when you have cars. Scavengers will inexplicably leave their cars parked a block away from where they're looting, return to their cars, or abandon their cars to run back to base on foot. It means having to babysit your scavengers more especially on longer journeys. Less of an issue in late-game when you might not wanna scavenge as much anymore.
-Map generating issues. Minor issue considering this is early access still so I'm assuming it's gonna be worked on further. Some buildings will not spawn in properly, will be the wrong size compared to real life, or not have the correct address name. If you generate a town you know you might be surprised to see what will count as food, medical and weapon loot spots. Example, hardware store spawned in as a "food" loot location lol. It can break some immersion.
-Lag. Some maps lag my computer. I don't know why, and it makes it hard to play on certain maps unless you play on x1 speed.

Those are my only complaints/concerns after playing the game for 15 hours. Yes, it's very rough around the edges currently, but it's showing a LOT of potential. There's not a lot of great "zombie" survival strategy games, and none that I know of that lets you play on maps generated of your tiny little hometown in Norway :)

The story and lore around the zombies is interesting so far. I want to learn more about it!

Strategy and management aspects are very simple still but they're manageable, and the game feels mostly balanced so far.

I do recommend, but maybe wait if you wanna get a more polished game to play

EDIT: As of the most recent update, I haven't faced any bugs. The game can be challenging yes, but with the inclusion of game difficulty this seems fine. Pretty fun management game :D

Loved this game during EA, and am a big fan of the changes from then to release.
Unfortunately, bad RNG and bugs make this game not fun to play at the moment.

I got 3 random events at the same time. Barely enough time to finish all orders. Only had 1 order left for one of the events, and I changed its position in the queue, but no matter where I put it the smith refused to do that order. It timed out, and I lost out on a quest-line. Really annoying!
I quit out of the game and reloaded my save, and now my entire UI was gone. Savefile unplayable now.

Other than the random bugs, the random traits your protagonist and first hire gets assigned are one reason to reset the game. It's not fun when the 2 workers you're forced to keep end up with only bad traits. AFAIK there's no way to change them.

If it was just the annoying RNG I'd recommend this game, but with the current bugs I can't. If they get fixed I'll update my review!

I think this might be the perfect sandbox.

It's a very fun game! Definitely recommend getting at the current price.

There are however a few bugs atm. Had to reset the game 3-4 times in my 15 hours playthrough cause of getting stuck.
The balancing also feels a bit off. Wood is always needed, followed by refined gold. Stone is almost never used. Don't waste your time gathering it.

I'm looking forwards to seeing updates!

It feels good to play.
