The flavor and personality of the game is wonderful.

The gameplay is a very mixed bag. The many characters have a wide variety of abilities and strategies; but the matches are too cramped, quick, and chaotic to really appreciate any of that. Everyone is slow as molasses while most (but not all) characters get a little movement ability on a long cooldown. Hit detection is utterly maddening. Most of the skills have crucial information not available in the game. Every character is pidgeon-holed into 2 or 3 situations they can thrive in, and otherwise you're just flailing trying to survive and not waste your cooldowns.

The monetization is needlessly convoluted, high priced, and FOMO-driven. And now there is controversy about the Battle Pass system. It is not as customer-friendly as advertised, as currency accumulated will not transfer over between seasons (except for direct-purchased currency). You can still grind currency in a current season to use on a previous one (if you had purchased the previous one).

But the way battle passes worked with needing to be purchased AND needing to grind currency from arbitrary challenges to progress is, as mentioned, needlessly convoluted and feels unfun and unrewarding.

I regret giving them the $20 I did for the first season, but don't feel like fighting for a refund.

Everything great about the first game, plus polish, plus QOL, plus nifty new movement and combat skills, plus a whole new chunk of world to explore!

Classic simple cute TD

Satisfying mix of cozy gameplays and some simple combat sprinkled in here and there. Silly quirky cute npc personalities and stories and special events. Tons and tons of stuff to do with freedom to pick what you spend most of your time on.

Of course, it's a classic! Fun match-3 gameplay with suprisingly deep RPG elements.

Classic accessible strategy game with a quirky premise and good brain-training for programming problem solving!

UPDATE: development has been canceled. The game is not and will not be finished. It will hopefully be pulled from the store soon, but meanwhile DO NOT buy it.

Yes, with a caveat. The Early Access status is very much the state of things. The game is between alpha-beta in development. It performs well and the features work and are cool, but the UX needs a ton of polish and the feature set needs significant expansion to meet the goals of the game.

This is a game first and foremost about roleplaying with others in a mythological african dream world. To gather and craft and combat some spirits and appeased others, and to usually cooperate and sometimes compete with other players in all these facets. Twin Drums has produced mountains of lore and fun crunchy game mechanics in their table-top supplements that they are still working to get incorporated in this game.

This studio and this game are a fresh perspective and vision that the game industry DESPERATELY needs. In turn Twin Drums desperately needs funding and playtesting to make their vision a reality. If you're willing to toss a couple bucks to join in on this adventure at this still-fairly-early stage, it would not go amiss!

At least keep an eye out for Twtich streams of the game and the like, and the Discord server etc to be a part of the community during development. :)

Incredibly dope and pulse pounding. Literally the reason I bought the game.

What an awesome gruesome game with lots of fun little choices and tons of personality.

Even with all the rogue-like wackiness things get a little repetitive after your first full run, but then the semi-pvp aspect comes into play to really give you an incentive to delve deeper into the insane amounts of optimization you can do for your squad!

AND THE SOUNDTRACK IS ELECTRIC FIRE

They seem to have really come in and added the depth of content and breadth of features they should have had at launch. I'm cautiously optimistic that we're back on track to surpass CS1!
