SoulWorker has changed hands between three or four companies. Think carefully before playing on Steam.
Back when it was on Gameforge's SoulWorker Steam, I had around 800 hours. After that, I can say I never played again.

I think everyone has this program on their wishlist. If I think about the value of this perfection program at the beginning it was increasing 1.5X/2X FPS and now it's 3X FPS. I'm expecting 4X soon and it looks like all my friends will get it. I mean, I will say why should those with a good graphics card buy it, I guess RTX5090 wants to try it first.

Right now I’m watching the tournament matches. The skill system and hero bans are actually balanced now. The stadiums look great. They even added lootboxes, and on top of that, there’s 6v6 now. Honestly, I wish they added all this like 5 months earlier.

--------------------

They’ve actually improved the game a lot. Quitting it used to feel like quitting smoking. Favorite characters and skins all that made people stick around longer than they probably should’ve.
Some people were interested in sexuality, u know. This part still hasn’t changed, and yeah, it might be one of the reasons people get hooked. But to be fair, the storylines have always been written really well.
(I've seen skins coming out on the same characters all the time these days. It's a problem for a lot of people ig but I never thought about it)

But thinking “it’ll get better soon” doesn’t mean much. The skins, drop rates, stats they just.. If you don’t have a solid group to play with, things get way more frustrating.
(It’s decent right now, but I really hope the skill system in ranked doesn’t get overhyped. It’s way more fun, coordinated, and balanced when you play with a proper team)

Some people just play to play. Others say it’s for fun or stress relief. Let’s be real though. This game isn’t made to relax you. Some people just play to play. Others say it’s for fun or stress relief. Let’s be real though. This game isn’t made to relax you. It’s all about getting caught up in the competitive hype and letting yourself get lost in the adrenaline. The rush of winning, the frustration of losing and it’s what keeps you hooked. But seriously, one little mistake from that one guy on your team and the whole match just falls apart.
(That's what I used to say, but not anymore, and it's really a notch better than before. Those who don't like it can now switch to 6vs6)

--------------------

Now that the system feels more balanced, some people will love it and others will still hate it. I know some will read my comment or someone else’s and start trash-talking, but honestly, it feels like the devs are finally paying attention. The game actually gives off that 2016 vibe again. I can feel it just by watching. I’d love to play on my account again, but that’s probably off the table. It’s hard when no one really understands the issue, and honestly, I’ve given up on trying to explain for now.

--------------------

Even though there were things I didn’t really like about the transition from Overwatch 2016 to Overwatch 2, I’ve got to admit- the state of OW2 right now actually looks good. I originally bought this game thanks to a relative who passed away. So for me, beyond the addiction, fun, and competitive side, it’s always felt more like a gift, something meaningful. I remember begging for it around June back then. I think in 2023 I even printed some posters and transparent stickers of the game. Still haven’t found a place to hang the poster, but I was thinking about getting it framed. Sounds silly, maybe- but looking back now, I feel like I didn’t give the game the respect it deserved.

In the Beginning

I was fine with the other game modes, but open world stuff just isn’t for me. Survival-type gameplay feels way too random, or like you need to be super high level and laser-focused all the time. Not really my thing. If your focus is anything like mine, good luck...

Also, not gonna lie, the atmosphere and perspective of the game felt really off and kind of stressful.
Mechanics, abilities, graphics, and combat all feel great though. Gameplay itself is tight. Just the balance is kind of all over the place. Hope they fix that at some point.
Once you get used to it, yeah, it’s actually a great game. Definitely worth giving it a shot.

One Year Later

Yeah, this game isn’t for me. The pace and tempo are just on another level. Doesn’t matter if you play fast or slow, you still gotta be insanely agile.
I’ve got some speed maybe, but agility? Nope. And without that, it’s just not fun.
Except for team deathmatch and some weapon-swap matches, the ranked open world feels totally random. People slide, jump backwards, spin mid-air and just kill you like it’s nothing.
You barely match with people on your own level anymore. Most of the time, it’s sweaty no-lifers going full tryhard.
Usually it takes me like 10 to 50 hours to get used to a game, especially in this genre. With this one? Probably need 300 hours just to not get destroyed every match.
If you’re fast, agile and have a plan, and if you’ve gotten used to the game, you’ll probably end up playing it like you’re addicted. That’s a whole different thing though.

It’s not a game that doesn’t deserve to be recommended. I just couldn’t get into it myself.

It used to be pretty good back in the day. It felt like a modded, story-based version of CS. I played every single mode. The regular story mode and the scenario story mode are still there at least, but there was a mode I really liked called “Hidden” that got removed, which sucks. There was even a football mode, not sure if that’s still around. I didn’t play it much, but it was fun once in a while.

After the game moved from Nexon Zombies to Studio, things just started feeling fake. Everyone just opens up some world to grind for themselves. No one’s actually fighting or playing anymore. And the ones who gave them that system are just as guilty. Why even add something like that? Totally unnecessary. Then you see someone made a Studio map just to farm zombies for an event. Then another one to grind badges. And none of that gets punished. That’s the worst part.

And let’s not even talk about the prices going up nonstop. The game’s starting to feel like real life. You buy something, and it feels like you're buying for the dev, then the team, and then finally yourself. The prices are just too much everywhere, and I don’t mean just in our country, the whole system is broken. Now it’s probably devs, tax, team, and then us. I’ll double-check that and update this part if I’m wrong. Oh, and yeah, Steam switched to USD two days ago. Can’t forget that either.

We used to enjoy the game by improving little by little, spending a small amount of money on something we loved. It wasn’t anything huge. But now that’s not even possible, and the fun is gone too. Now people just drop cash and get god-knows-what weapons. One button, boom, game over. Aiming? Agility? Nah. None of that matters anymore.

Up to like three years ago, it was still okay. These kinds of weapons existed, but they weren’t this overpowered. During the Zombies era, it was actually great. At least you had to aim, work for it, and the game had a real combat feel. Now I don’t even know what kind of godlike weapons are out there. Probably Excalibur or something, flying around and attacking on its own. Give it a few years and I swear we’ll get some magic sword that fights by itself while you sit and watch.

Short version? Not worth playing. If you don’t have friends to play with, don’t even bother. If you’ve got a group, stick to basic weapons and just have some fun. Luckily they finally added a weapon limit system. Honestly, that’s the only good feature left. At least now you don’t get sliced from 10 meters away by some oversized sword. I’m exaggerating, but last time I checked it was like 4 or 5 meters, maybe 6. By now it’s probably 10. Just imagine what’s next.

And if you’re thinking “I’ll drop 10K and wreck everyone,” sure, that’s literally the whole point now. Or if you’re lazy, hop into a Studio map, hit Enter and ESC, and it’ll basically play for you. Congrats, you’re now a pro while sitting back doing nothing. Anyway, jokes aside, Nexon, you ruined this game. I used to have hope in you. I played a lot of your games, followed them, even on my own. But this? This one’s just bad. Even the old CS-Nexon TR version before it came to Steam was way better.

Some of the older modes had real excitement. Minimal weapons, hard9 mode, people rushing in and going crazy. I tried too, but never got as good as the ones I watched. If you join now, you’ll see everyone doing the same thing with the same overused weapons. The excitement is gone. It’s been completely milked. They just keep saying “give us money and we’ll give you a new OP weapon.” At least the character models look nice. Male and female both. And like I said, the weapon limit feature is a life saver.

So after a long break, I reinstalled. My playtime shows 1681 hours as I write this. I’ll update this post again after I test things out more. I’m going in hoping it’s gotten better. I doubt it, but we’ll see.

Okay, I went in. No need to go back again. You already know what happened. One of the new weapons I mentioned? Guy killed me while I wasn’t even near him. Incredible. Saying the game got worse is an understatement. I literally can’t describe how bad it is now. I’m talking about the once-fun Zombie Hero mode.

Also, EU and TR rooms are nearly gone. Clearly a lot of people gave up. Prices felt normal, probably because of the USD switch, who knows. The lower player count made me smile for a sec. But that’s not the point. I tested a bit of everything. Thankfully, they didn’t touch stuff like shelter, story and scenario modes. Even the football mode’s still there. So yeah, that’s nice. There used to be a mode called Hidden where we fought against an invisible-joker. For some reason, they removed it and that really bummed me out.

And funnily enough, when I logged in, I ran into someone who also just reinstalled. We got into a game at almost the same time and played a bit. That was actually kinda cool.
