Soma is the better package in general, Amnesia TDD had the novelty with a solid concept, Amnesia AMFP was lackluster and this one is.... fine. Yeah, it might sound disappointing, and it can totally be to a varying degree, but it was worth my time and might be worth yours if you can tolerate slow burns. And oh boy can this be a slow burn for some. I know I was on the fence till almost the very end of the game.

Once you take a closer look at all the gameplay mechanics, it becomes a very easy game to just rush through, which I don't recommend in horror games, where you want immersion and a fitting atmosphere. Still, the game does not offer a lot of challenges and a lot of "superficial" dangers before you can actually "die". This can and will bore some players. I had fun prematurely believing in danger, though.

Tasi can be a bit obnoxious with excessive monologuing, the story isn't fleshed out in some parts (the entire crew remains quite distant from the player, stopping any deeper involvment that would have improved the experience), and you'll need to find and read quite a bit for the more subtle details of the story (as well as the relation to other Amnesia games), but there is enough for avid fans to discover.

The game might be flawed but does not come without some true gems in form of well-designed segments that really nailed the fright, my favorite part being the hunting grounds, where I truly had to get used to my surroundings if I didn't want to die (I had to get the achievement, ya know. It's pretty much the only challenge the game has to offer besides speedrunning.... and speedrunning this kind of game is just ludicrous in my opinion).

In the end, I left more satisfied than disappointed, even if it could have been better, proven by Soma in the past. The devs said it best at the start of the game "don't play this to win", get this if you want a creepy story that can be touching and tragic, while also enjoying the concept of being on edge whenever darkness shows up.

No, just no. "Why?" you ask? Look at my playtime... I FINISHED the game in that time. I goofed around in the first level, amazed by the poor hit detection, non-existent AI, lack of UI (or options for that matter) and atrocious level design (mostly due to Turok-levels of fog (N64 version)).

So how did I manage to be this quick? You get new weapons and a semblance of terrain diversity to fight of hordes of braindead enemies that actually..... don't need any fighting.... you just run past them, because your unit can sprint quite quickly. While sprinting you are basically immortal as the enemies cannot hit you for ♥♥♥♥♥, and since the only goal in this game is to reach the exit (a random christmas tree and some presents somewhere on the map) i just ran past everything. I would have tried fighting, if was any fun, but all the levels have pretty much the same enemies over and over again and the weapons feel atrocious. I was bored after a single level since there is nothing here to keep my interest, like a story, "hot gurlz" or noteworthy effort from the devs.

Avoid this time waster and buy something else during steam sales for the same price with ungodly more entertainment value. Luckily, I got this a joke gift from a buddy and didn't pay anything for it, otherwise I would have refunded.

As many have stated, this is all about the story, as the gameplay is mostly functional but nothing spectacular or really engaging. The story, however, is well told, believable and really passionate. I'm not gonna lie, I had tears at some point.

Definitely worth it in my books.

Anyone expecting an action game, where you goal is to kill zombies and survive should look elsewhere, this is all about the story and the characters. It's all about your decisions how people will react to you and what events will be triggered as a result. To make things clear, it does not matter what you choose, the main plot will continue, but you should see this as an interactive movie, and damn son, it delivers in that respect. You have awefully compelling characters and an interesting plot that, once you started, you certainly would not want to miss. Plotholes were there, but I would lie if I said that I did not enjoy it. In my humble opinion, it deserves to be bought just for the most compelling child-character since ... id almost say ever, Clementine.

I'ts time to kick ass and be dissapointed, and I'm all out of asses! I wasn't hyped in any way to play this game and just bought it as dedicated Duke 3D fan to relive old Times with a newer game. Unfortunately, developments didn't go so well for Duke, as he has become a victim of modern bland shooters like Halo or CoD, mixed with abit of Nostalgia and pretty forgettable scenarios.
What made Duke 3D a blast were its remarkable humour, its well thought out level designs, the one liners from Duke himself and the plentiful variation in enemies and weaponry. All that is pretty much gone when Duke can only hold 2 weapons at a time, has turret and driving scenes a la Halo, has regenerating Health, only reproduces old one liners without giving good new stuff, has clunky gameplay on PC due to the fact that it was adapted from consoles and the enemies or levels are only a fading shadow of the once charismatic foes and design. All in All, forgettable and often boring... a shame.

Best Recommendation eva and totally not for the treasue hunt! The Undergarden Demo was the best gaming experience I had since I started on the steam platform. Beginning with unbelievable controls, where every third click is doing something similar to what you were planning to do and the other input is simply ignored or does something random. Following with the amazing level design that really knows how to create boredom at the speed of light with its very hard tasks and smart riddles: meaning taking a fruit and putting it elsewhere. WOOOOOOOOOOOHH!
Don't forget the Menu which is still hold in X-Box 360 format so that all X-Box lovers can feel right at home, neglecting the useless fact that the controls are different on PC. Since it doesn't work anyway, this is truly no big deal, now is it?

This game simply has it all. It's no fun, doesn't work and was spit out for release. I'm sure no one can resist this floating orange Tiger-Koala with telekinetic power anyway, am I right? BUY!
